Save first shipment for Spanish Logistician?

As Spanish, do you think it is worth it to save the first shipment when using the 900 food age up?

Once you age up in age2, the shipment then goes like this 3 settler+150F, 100W, 75C > 5 settler > 4 settler.

The very first, no. You lose out on hundreds of resources by delaying that 3 vil shipment, losing more than you would gain. Vils gather food. at ~1 food/s with hunting dogs. So 3 f/s with the full shipment. Due to Spain’s shipment curve bonus, you can usually get your first shipment in at around 2:30 and you typically hit Age 2 after 4:30. So you’re losing out on 600+ resources to get 325.

The only time you want to try a trick like this is during transition with what is usually your 3rd card. If you send it during transition timed such that the shipment arrives immediately after the age up finishes, you get the logi bonus. At that point, delaying a shipment by a few seconds is worth it.

I see, say if I got 2 shipment in age1, should I sent Capitalism or save it for the 5 settler after aging up?

Also what other age1 card do you think better to be included on the deck if going with the logistician age up? I’m currently including inf 300 wood, but only send it after I send the Spanish Gold and 2 Falconet in age3, and also if I need extra resource instead of army

I don’t play a ton of Spain, but for Logi I think it’s normally a longer age 2 play. So 300c and 300w are worth considering. 2 vills might be okay too.

I’d consider 3vills → wait on second shipment until age up is like 66-75% done, then send capitalism because you only need it to arrive after logi finishes to get the reward (could also send 300w). You could maybe do a forward base and use some of the 300 res cards to help pump units. Spanish Gold in 3 is probably a must have (in case the game goes there). It adds coin to your infinite age 1 cards.

150f +400w +75c is pretty okay. Add in Spanish Gold later and it’s almost 1k res straight into your bank.

If it’s a water map, cheaper fishing boats and fish market should be good as you can go water and get extra resources.
