Save game failed to load - Steam version (cloud off)

Issue:

I have seen this mentioned on steam/reddit forums but it is not on the official known issues list.

Currently there is an extremely high chance of campaign save games being permanently unable to load, with the message shown being like “Saved game: save 2024-09-08 17-51-27 failed to load.”

I tried changing the AOM documents folder access rights and removing the “read only” property but it did not help (steam version, steam cloud is off so the saves are local).

I love the AOM campaign but i just can not enjoy it currently with the long missions (at titan difficulty) having such a high chance of being completely lost due to constantly corrupt save games.

Please fix this urgently, because for us who do not play multiplayer the campaigns are usually the main source of AOM fun.

The 13th september patch has not fixed this issue.

Save games still get corrupted in at least 60% of the cases, and the F9 button fails to work every time…

Yeah. Already checked it it also. It seems they are not tracking the issue.
