Saving and loading a game across version updates

Hello,

If a single-player (skitmish) game is saved, and later a new update is released, and then the saved game is loaded while running the new update, will the loaded game be using the rules of the previous update or the new update?

For example, the recent 61321 update changed several parameters for the Elephant Archer. If a game that was saved prior to this update is loaded while running this update, will the Elephant Archer be using the update’s new parameters?

No, it will try and use the old patch when possible, but some things may get a bit strange.
