Saving GreatScythe11, the man, the myth, the legend

To the AOE3 Community —

This is a call, not just to fans of Age of Empires III, but to those who understand what it means to pour your soul into something you love. It’s about GreatScythe11—the most dedicated 1v1 ranked player in AOE3 history, a name synonymous with tenacity, resilience, and undying passion.

For years, day in and day out, win or lose, GreatScythe11 was there playing on the ladder as his beloved civ - The Germans. With over 26.500 ranked games played, no one has contributed more time to the battlefield. No one has stayed more loyal. In a world that changes rapidly, he was a constant—logging in, queuing up, and giving his all.

But now, something has changed.

For the first time in what feels like forever, GreatScythe11 has been absent for 8 straight days. To some, that might not seem significant. But to those of us who’ve watched that name climb the ladder year after year, reaching a peak of 1642 elo, who’ve fought against him, who’ve watched his YouTube videos, who’ve measured time itself by their presence in the queue—it feels like a silence that echoes…

We don’t know what happened. Maybe it’s nothing. Maybe it’s EVERYTHING. But the absence is felt deeply.

This is a moment when community matters. If you know GreatScythe11—as a friend, a rival, or even just a passing opponent—please leave a message here. Check in. Let him know that he is missed. Let him know his journey meant something.

Because it did. It still does.

To play 26.500 ranked 1v1 matches is not just a statistic. It’s a reflection of commitment, passion and love for a game that so many of us cherish. It’s a LEGACY that deserves our respect and our concern.

Let’s not allow a LEGEND to fade in silence. Let’s stand up, reach out, and remind GreatScythe11 that the community he gave so much to—still cares !

I’ve beat him and been beat by him. The man loves his war wagons and cannons

Having played him in lobby (as china no less) and seen his videos and casted a few, he always seemed like a nice guy. He played his civ his way and the game his way, and there is a sort of brilliance when his own build and experience humbles a stronger player. I think he does take breaks but im glad others are recognizing his contributions and style to aoe3.

Like he was one of the first to try and break down herding for players back ESOC. A treaure for certain.

I hope he found a girlfriend.

Life for many is not easy, perhaps it had problems, in my beginnings in the defiting edition toy with the many times, for me it was a difficult challenge to overcome, I still remember when I played Ottomans tried It was flinching with the Rush, Cangono Carreton with the improvement of life can endure more than 20 shots of a Jenizaro and when I had little life he put it to the TC with very good grazing. DPS I improve and let him see in the ranked, although at that time I hated him now that I think about it with love, his mercenary build from melee with cannons was also something unique to him really
