I would love to see the Sea Peoples in Return of Rome.
They would be a mighty faction to fight against the Egyptians, Hittites and Greeks.
And what info do we have about them?
Came from italian coastal regions (some being named the Shekelets, Sicilians and Serdelets, Sardinians) who were pushed out when the Celts started to expand causing a domino effect, similar to the Huns 1500 years later. Others like the Philistines (Goliath) from the Aegean would follow once their regions collapsed.
They are credited for the fall of several empires like the Mycenean Greeks (writing even disappeared until the Phoenicians brought it back) and Hittites. Probably after seising Cyprus that was a major copper source.
After the Collapse the Philistines settled the southern levanting shore (and would give their name to Palestine after Hadrian did a bit of trolling), where they’d be the Hebrews’ archenemy
RoR aka Aoe is the easiest to add civis as they dont have anything unique and just different combinations of the tech tree.

Hmmm this is interesting idea but i don’t think that Devs would make it. But You still could play them or against them in Total War : Pharaoh Dynasties hah. Bronze Age is interesting anyway but seldom used.
They would still be more relevant to the period than the Palmyreans
The Bronze Age Collapse was a major cataclysmic event that comparatively had more effect than the Mongol Conquests as it knocked civilisation itself out for centuries, it’s natural to give more relevance to game-changing event than chunks of many centuries in which the needle of the statu quo barely moves. And even after this short episode they still retained some relevance as the Philistines.
The game covers both the Bronze Age and the Iron Age (before that there is no recorded history) so the transition period between the two that is of a massive importance.
Plus, the devastation from the sea could open some interesting gameplay, and we could even play on Goliath by giving them some glass cannon infantry (looks intimidating but can be severely punised with the right counters).
