seems since season 5 aoe4 takes an absurd amount of time to launch. It’s almost like 1 frame per 10 seconds and seems to be as ‘un responsive’ on the menu also.
e.g. Once the game is loaded and im on the main menu, if I press any menu, lets say settings, the triggered sound of me selecting the button sounds 30-40 seconds later, and the page loads piece by piece after 2-4mins.
I have tried updating my GPU, uninstalling the game, de-fragging and shredding my disc. Still the same.
Might be the ongoing issue that the Game is selecting the wrong GPU.
Check this thread
If you can open the game you can also check the GPU that is being used in settings (Under graphics perhaps?) Or you could confirm this from the warning logs.
Hi fleeze, thanks for reaching out. I’ll check the GPU in settings.
Seems the post you linked has people who can’t start the game. Mine loads, but I can go to the shops and back before the game registers my click. Seems more CPU related?
I find it hard to believe the GPU is the issue. The game is struggling to launch properly and run the menu’s. They arent GPU heavy or even that dependent on the graphics card.
I feel the issue is with the game and not our systems. Usually every update brings some sort of launching problem.
If anything the CPU usage has increased dramatically and our systems can’t keep up. But the increase in CPU usage looks like a problem on their end?
that not neccesary true, when i asked the dev he said it definitely an unfortunate bug, but again he is only a dev, i imagine managers have the final say in this
there are more variables in the play here
even if they pull the plug on us, they will still lose a big portion of old gen gpu gamers
there are many other issues with this engine update, people experiencing high cpu usage and alot of stutters in team games, there is the chance that they may move the changes to the old engine till this mess is fixed, but who knows!
one can only hope
reason i said it gpu issue is because in warning logs it says skipping “gpu name” cause it doesnt support directx 12, and so far everyone who experienced this issue have a gpu that doesnt support directx 12
also i think because cpu 100% trying to do both cpu and gpu job, that why the big long stutter, and i imagine it not just loading menu, you load the game assets as well which will require gpu
and another guy told me hes cpu usage is 100% all time, but hes gpu 0%, so that my guess from the info i gathered, of course devs know better
