Separate Solo Queue and Premade Parties in Team Games (TG)

It is really frustrating that Age of Empires II: DE still lacks an option to separate solo queue players from premade parties in Team Games.

Playing solo in TG against a full premade stack (who are on Discord, coordinating strategies, and picking complementary civs) creates an immense disadvantage. It makes climbing the TG ELO virtually impossible for solo players, as match outcomes often come down to team coordination rather than individual skill.

A simple checkbox—like “Solo Players Only” (similar to matchmaking options in many other competitive titles)—would completely fix this problem.

Players who queue solo should have the option to match strictly with and against other solo players, while premades fight other premades. Right now, the lack of this feature renders solo TG ranked a very unrewarding experience.

I’d rather they not make the queue times needlessly longer and make the games even more unbalanced.

If you want your Elo to reflect how well you play solo, then play 1v1s; but if you want your Elo to represent how well you perform and coordinate with your teammates, then the current team game system is fine.

In my experience full premade teams usually have al teast two things about them:

  • If you pressure 1 player, he won’t resign like a baby. That happens in solo queue every second game, as players don’t believe in teammates.
  • they are of less comparable skill even if their ELO doesn’t say that, so if you pressure their best player they often perform poorly.
