Serbs, civilization concept

Yes, why not?

They were symbol of their upper status, served as protection from the weather, acted as blanket, etc.

Other depictions of soldiers wearing capes:

Aztecs: Powerful noblemen and elite warriors of the Aztec Empire would wear a tilmàtli; a Mesoamerican cloak/cape used as a symbol of their upper status. Cloth and clothing was of utmost importance for the Aztecs. The more elaborate and colorful tilmàtlis were strictly reserved for elite high priests, emperors; and the Eagle warriors as well as the Jaguar knights.

Serbian knights didn’t have heavily armored horses, in fact they were fast shock troops, so Cataphract horse isn’t a best model.

I was unsure of horse armor, firstly i was thinking the same, but Battle of Ankara proves me wrong.

The sources say, both in Serbian, and others in English i could find, that:

“The Serbian troops wore heavy black plate armour which was very effective against the Timurid arrows.”

“The Mongols were repulsed by the action of Serbian troops, whose bravery is emphasized by Byzantine and Persian sources. The Serbian horsemen dispersed the Mongolian archers on horses and collided with the Mongolian cavalry, which began to give way and retreat under the force of the heavily armored Serbian horsemen.”

“Stefan Lazarević and his knights successfully fought off the Timurid assaults and cut through the Mongol ranks three times.”

According to some sources, the speed of the advance of the Serbian heavy cavalry was so great that Bayazit at one point, afraid that his left wing would be cut off from the main force, issued an order for their retreat to positions closer to the center of the Turkish army.

“After some time, all the Ottoman light cavalry was defeated, and Stefan Lazarevic was cut off from the center, which was still resisting the Mongol attacks. When Stefan Lazarevic saw that the Turkish army was leaving the battlefield and that further fighting no longer made sense, he decided to retreat. In the course of the retreat, although wounded, he made his way with his armor to Bayazit to enable him to retreat. The obstinate Bayezid, still firmly holding the center with 10,000 Janissaries, refused to leave the battlefield believing that the outcome of the battle was still undecided. When the latter refused, Stephen retreated alone to the west, protecting Suleiman’s retreat from the Mongol detachments. Along this road in the vicinity of Ankara, there is still today the toponym Srp gazi (Serbian victor), which testifies to the courage and heroism of the Serbian army.”

Mongol soldiers must have had a lot of horse archers.
From logical perspective unarmored horse would not stand well against Mongol archers.

Also in every battle Serbian army participated, heavy cavalry was mentioned.
And what is heavy cavalry without armored horses?

In conclusion i think that both knight, and horse, wore something like this.

Modern painting depiction of Milos Obilic.
This is basically how Vlastela’s armor should look like.

Yes i understand, it’s not like i know for certain, i only saw depictions from paintings.
Also, i think heavy cavalry means that riders were heavily armored not necessarily horses too. Maybe i’m wrong, just sharing thoughts.

That one has roman / mediterranean feel to it.

Current Eastern European set would do the job.

Although it has some weird roof knobs on black roofed buildings, and weird TC roof design in imperial age…

Removing those knobs and redesigning TC roof would fix the set and make it good.

What do you think about Castle?
Yeah l think the same when l look some other architecture sets

I think that design is interesting and stone coloring looks more realistic.

I like the church / monastery in the middle, though it is some weird thing at first sight lol.

Looks pretty dope.

Although, that castle design would need new and similar architecture set.

Actually when i see monastery inside castle…
Some ideas are coming to my mind lol…

Like producing second UU at castle similar to monk.

Second UU name could be: Vladika, Iguman, or Mitropolit for example.

He could heal two units at the same time, instead of just one, cost 50g and have 20hp, instead of 30 of a monk.

A lot of Serbian monasteries are surrounded by walls etc.

That would be very unique civ design and castle design.
