WHAT: Server Maintenance (Multiplayer Servers)

WHEN: 2026-05-14T23:00:00Z

EST. DOWNTIME: 1-2 HOURS

GAMES & PLATFORMS:

  • Age of Empires: Definitive Edition (Steam / Microsoft Store)
  • Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (Steam / Microsoft Store / Xbox / PlayStation 5)
  • Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition (Steam / Microsoft Store)
  • Age of Empires IV (Steam / Microsoft Store / Xbox / PlayStation 5)

OBJECTIVES:

  • Routine server maintenance; no player-facing changes.

DETAILS:

This coming Thursday, May 14th, the platform team will temporarily take the multiplayer servers offline to apply a backend fix aimed at addressing the recent multiplayer issues. While this update is expected to improve overall stability, you might still experience some issues. If that’s the case after maintenance is complete, please report them to our support team: https://aoe.ms/Support

Please note:

  • Online matchmaking will be disabled exactly one hour before the maintenance window to prevent disruption to newly-formed matches.
  • Any matches still in progress at the start of the maintenance window will be disrupted when the servers are taken offline.
  • DURING THE MAINTENANCE WINDOW, YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THE GAME, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MATCHMAKE OR ACCESS ANY ONLINE FEATURES.

To prevent any interruptions, we recommend wrapping up any games at least 10 minutes before the maintenance window. The downtime is expected to last between 1 and 2 hours . You can watch this thread for any changes to the schedule as they arise, as well as the all-clear when the maintenance is complete.

Will the new patch be included with this update?

As stated in the post above, the maintenance is to help address the recent multiplayer issues that has faced the AOE titles, it is a routine server maintenance and has no player facing changes included. :slight_smile:

If you’re referring to the update that is currently in PUP (Public Update Preview) on Steam for AOE2DE no release date has been posted yet. Keep an eye out for any future updates here: Age of Empires Franchise - World’s Edge Studio - Official Web Site or on the official Discord. :slight_smile:

Likewise any content updates for any of the titles will be found on their respective parts on the website or in the News Section of the Discord.
