WHAT: Server Maintenance (Multiplayer Servers)

WHEN: 2026-05-21T21:00:00Z

EST. DOWNTIME: 1-2 HOURS

GAMES & PLATFORMS:

  • Age of Empires: Definitive Edition (Steam / Microsoft Store )
  • Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (Steam / Microsoft Store / Xbox / PlayStation 5 )
  • Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition (Steam / Microsoft Store )
  • Age of Empires IV (Steam / Microsoft Store / Xbox / PlayStation 5 )

OBJECTIVES:

  • Routine server maintenance; no player-facing changes.

DETAILS:

This coming Thursday, May 21st , the platform team will be taking the multiplayer servers down for regular maintenance. Please note:

  • Online matchmaking will be disabled exactly one hour before the maintenance window to prevent disruption to newly-formed matches.
  • Any matches still in progress at the start of the maintenance window will be disrupted when the servers are taken offline.
  • DURING THE MAINTENANCE WINDOW, YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THE GAME, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MATCHMAKE OR ACCESS ANY ONLINE FEATURES.

To prevent any interruptions, we recommend wrapping up any games at least 10 minutes before the maintenance window. The downtime is expected to last between 1 and 2 hours . You can watch this thread for any changes to the schedule as they arise, as well as the all-clear when the maintenance is complete.

25 hours is not normal, and please.. PLEASE change the time of the upadate, we cant play once a week… Or allow to host a server even with less performance

This was an issue from yesterday. After restarting Steam, the correct time should appear.

Thanks a lot. Just had a game where my opponent didn’t resign.. I destroyed everything. Completely. No military, no vills, no buildings. And yet the game didn’t end. Would be great if you could fix that. Sorry. :slight_smile:

it was an issue but we waited 25 hours, we were 4 players turning on and off steam and age multiple time

We play on Wednesdays or Thursdays, and we choose depending on maintenance schedules. So maintenance planned for Thursday but only announced on Wednesday at 11 p.m. is really difficult for us!

With 48 hours’ notice, we can organize ourselves and decide on Wednesday morning whether we’ll play on Wednesday evening or Thursday evening. Many thanks !
