Setting hotkeys only recognises "W"

When changing hotkeys, the system recognizes that the right key is pressed but it saves the key “W”.

:arrow_forward: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue (as shown in the screenshot):

  1. Go to Options => Hotkeys
  2. In the Hotkey groups select “Group Commands” and the “Select Group #16” hotkey
  3. Click on “Change Selected” and then press the key ‘X’

:arrow_forward: EXPECTED RESULT

The expected result is to set the key to ‘X’ and create a warning that ‘X’ clashes with 9 other hotkeys.

Instead, the game sets in “Current Hotkey” the key ‘W’. The key ‘W’ is applied also in the game. The system obviously recognized the correct key press as the clash error mentions the right key ‘X’.

The problem happens even if there is no key clash, but it is not obvious that it is a game bug. It also happens in build 101.102.18071.0 (#83607) 11179620.

For other people that find this post, a future workaround could be to use aokhotkeys. At the time of writing this bug aokhotkeys is not compatible with the new hkp hotkeys format but the community is working on it (see github issue) Without a workaround this bug makes the game unplayable for experienced players who depend on custom hotkeys.

Not applicable.

If you are using Linux, there is a workaround for this issue, switch to Proton Experimental. If you are on Mac, I’m afraid I don’t know any workaround for it.
Thanks for your report.
