I think it would be really convenient if the player could see the stats of the units they are controlling instead of having to individually select one. It lets you know what your working with in a glance and helps with making sure your not forgetting any crucial upgrades without having to constantly shift between blacksmiths and stables, ranges etc…

I’m in favour of your change, can’t see a downside.
Thought I’m always impressed when people can tell what upgrades they/the enemy has by looking just at the stats. So many variables I never know if I am missing something.
