The fact that you replied to a post that was pointing out the immersion as AoEIII’s advantage with “Yes, that’s why AoM and Aoe2 are more loved by the community
So why is that AoM and AoEII are more loved?
Perhaps you could clarify what you meant by that.

I really don’t know how you come up with that conclusion based on the reviews that you posted.
Steam’s positive reviews on these do not really say a lot as both games were released and debuted several years before they get added there.
I personally bought 3 or 4 physical copies of AoEIII over the years and still do not own the steam’s version.

Let alone that those reviews do not really back up what you said. AoEIII has 6000+ more reviews (28,866 to 22,261) while still maintaining its overall 90% positive rate compared to 91% of AoM’s.
According to statistics, AoEIII can have from 2,000,000 to 5,000,000 more owners than AoM as well.

If you actually checked their numbers before DE was released you would be able to see that AoEIII always had a significantly larger active playerbase.

If you add on that the Definitive Edition then you will be able see how during the last months AoEIII’s players diminished as players were moving on to the latest version, that is still larger than AoM’s.

The love that the community showed to this game is evident by the amount of player-created content, mods, streamers and of course its very active competitive scene that AoM never had.
