Siren

I don’t get the purpose of this unit. Is her only role to lure enemy siege units and myth units?

Against archer spam or human units in general, I feel like you’re better off deleting her immediately to save population space. In practice, while you’re using her special attack she can’t use any regular attack, and her special attack is too slow and useless against human units spam.

Or is it okay for her to be this useless because Persephone’s God Power is finally strong now?

I think she’s supposed to be a support unit. So yeah, she’ll be weak if not surrounded by a meat shield. I think the idea (at least originally) was to use her to micromanage and counter powerful enemy MUs. She disables them while your army pick them off.

A myth unit needs to hit hard and consistently, not only be a support unit, see the medusa.

If she can’t attack normally while she uses her special ability then its only role is to lure big targets, but then if you disable her slow special ability then you are are basically using a meele Lampades with no special.

Her special attack should be able to lure more targets at once instead of just one, but the problem is that she’ll still remain an easy target to enemy fire because the special is too slow.

In my opinion, the Siren also struggles to disable enemy targets effectively, unlike Medusa, Mummy, or Lampades, which can do it with a single click.

The main issue is that she’s extremely vulnerable while casting her Lure ability. It gives opponents plenty of time to react and focus-fire her, making the ability far too risky to use in most situations.

I think the unit should have its auto-launch ability disabled by default, and only use it to attract a powerful unit. I’m not sure about the time of attraction and range, though, so I can’t tell if it’s actually useful.

I think it can be useful when is near a friendly fortress to attrack a powerful myth unit and kill it, specially siege power myth units, i think this was the intended

how mummy disable enemy targets?

Transforming the enemy units in minion after a short period or time, still more reliable than siren’s special.

The thing of luring a unit near the fortress means that you must have the siren or a temple nearby, but this interaction is so situational that i refuse to think that they had this particular use in mind when they’ve designed the unit…

To be precise, mummy hit enemy with a DoT making them reincarnate into minions if they are killed within 15s

in my total honest opinion: harpy and siren both shouldn’t be mythic age and more like either heroic or classical age myth units AND what i really think siren should have the scream attack the shinigami from japanese civ has but, well, the shinigami already got this ability which would have fitted so well to the siren.

what it also could do is scream and let units in that cone be on your side fighting for 2-3 seconds or something. or they lure a unit and drain their HP during the luring. (also flying would be cool but w/e i guess)

The Japanese bird Onmoraki and the Aztec Soul Eater are other examples of what a support myth unit should be. In comparison, the Siren feels 10x worse than them.

It is a bit weird unit in its current form. Their song is heard by everyone but attracts only a single unit. Luring siege weapons makes no sense as well.

Perhaps it could have an aoe lure only for human units, and release any units that take damage.

I kinda dont like myth units that only good vs other myth units like og medusa and now siren… thats the heroes role, a myth unit is suppose to counter human units first, dealing with myth units should be a secondary role.

It makes sense to make it so she lures hp amount of units- if its low hp human units, multiple will be lured and some myth units need to be damaged first.

You mentioned the exact reason why Mummy, Onmoraki, Soul Eater etc. are useful: because they’re really good against human units swarm, while Siren is kinda the opposite right now.

The special ability sucks against slow targets, if they don’t want to rework it then the +50% speed for lured targets should be available by default and not locked via upgrade.

For example, a Colossus moving at only 3 speed takes an eternity to get in range of Siren’s attack, so a lured Colossus should have 4,5 speed without requiring the upgrade, and the upgrade should only improve Siren’s hitpoints and attack.
