Since the latest update I am unable to adjust the AI when im trying to play 1v1 in offline Skirmish;
Its just missing from the lobby; As well as missing when in use any other number of AI in the lobby setting in the top right corner.
If I try to then start a game this “ghost” AI just copys my color and God I’ve selected.
Trigger Event:
Started after the latest update this afternoon
Repro Steps:
Open Skirmish in the Main Menu
Look at the Lobby screen, issue explained up top
Pictures attached cut into one since new user
In Order:
Lobby screen
Loading Screen
In-Game score card
Edit:
After some fiddling around it seems like I managed to fix it
Seems it was a problem with the UserProfile.xml; altough I’m not sure what caused it
%USERPROFILE%\Games\Age of Mythology Retold\16 digit number\users\UserProfile.xml
is the file in question
All I did was replace the RandomMapGameSettings Block in my UserProfile with the one from the DefaultProfile
in the Installation Folder
I tested with Steam Offline to stop Cloud sync from potentially overwriting it
Tested after with Online and it seems to work normally again now
I kept the “broken” user profile if someone wants to figure out the exact cause
hope this helps
I am also having this issue. Verify integrity of game files does not solve the problem. It persists through restarts as well. Wonder where the change is getting written to disk. Here’s some more images.
Fiddling with the number of players and then returning to two I could get a lobby that looks like this.
Same issue here for skirmish games. It creates one more AI than set in the player count of the lobby. This AI then copies my name in the loading screne, this name then changes ingame to a valid ai name. Hope this gets fixed soon.
I have a different fix that worked for me and is very simple:
Make sure your system locale is set to English (United States)
I know some games don’t run properly unless you have the correct system locale set. So, on a whim, I checked mine and forgot that I left it on Japanese (Japan). I changed it back to English (United States) and the problem went away. Changing system locale makes you restart your computer btw.
To change this, you want to go to Settings, Time & language, Administrative language settings, and then finally to change system locale.
