So, what about a Belisarius, Justinian and Theodora campaign?

With the release of RoR, the Romans will be the only civilization that won’t be playable in any scenario (unless they’re included in some campaign, but I don’t see available candidates). Wouldn’t it be great if a New Rome campaign was added, featuring legends like Belisarius, Justinian and Theodora? Both Romans and Byzantines could be playable, depending on the csenario, and it’s a cool medieval campaign that many players missed, since the Byzantines got Bari instead.

Just think about it…

Make a Belisarius campaign with the Romans and a Heraclius campaign with the Byzantines.

Sanguine barbarorum renata erit Roma !

I think Majorian would be a more fitting option for this new Roman civ.
At this point I don’t know which civ should have a Justinian campaign, neither the Romans nor the Byzantines seems really fitting.

Basil II would also be a great choice for the Byzantines. The Bulgarians won’t see it coming !

So hard to pick in a civ that has such a rich history…

Babur starts with tatars
Maybe it starts with (West) Romans and ends with (East) Romans? Or just be (East) Romans all the way

Byzantines when in the east (fighting the Persians, crushing some overenthusiastic sport fans…) and in the west against the Vandals, then the Romans when in Italy, once relying on the support of re-established Western Roman provinces (Africa then Italy).

How about mixed techtree. Player can train cataphracts, legionaries and centurions and has bonuses of both (in-game)Romans and (in-game)Byzantines. Easyly doable with triggers

Maybe keeping some byzantine elements as the Romans and, for later scenarios in the east (after Rome has been returned), giving some roman elements to the Byzantines.

Of all the Late Roman emperors that they can choose, they chose none of them…

Because Trajan is a campaign for the AOE1 Romans, not the AOE2 Romans. Spirit was wrong for this part of his video.

You’ll notice the Back button is blue, as opposed to red. That’s ROR not AOE2.

I’m hoping that’s the case…

The legionary from the ROR column comes straight from Trajan’s column, one of the most important primary source about how the Early Imperial (before the 3rd century crisis) army looked :

You can rest easy.

Yep, it seems we got zero campaign for AoE 2. This is just disappointing for a DLC that’s been delayed for quite sometime now…

I didn’t expect anything medieval so the AOE2 romans are a nice bonus. I was quite vocal in favour of adding them, though they’ll probably have a much more conservative design than what I’d have done.

At least they should give both the Romans and Byzantines civ their own campaign. The only time we ever get to play as Byzantines is from the Bari campaign, while the rest of them are either them as allies or as enemies.

Bari was a huge missed opportunity when they could have made Belisarius Heraclius or Basil II indeed. I think Heraclius would have the greatest potential.

For the Romans… Constantine (yes yes pushing the start date even a bit earlier) or Majorian.
