What are your thoughts on Sobek change from the tech tree in the stress test version?
Before when playing Egyptians I always either went Sekhmet or Nephthys when those are a option but now being able to have higher hit point and health regenerating Camels would make me finally use all 3 Heroic Age up options at some point.
Badass looking crocodile god inherited the god power, the myth units, and most of the upgrades from the cow headed love goddess. With Medjay being replaced with Dark Water, and Solar Barque being new (I think) it’s not that different, benefit wise.
The biggest difference I can see is Sobek looking scary and badass, and Hathor, well, not as much. Psychology can have an impact. But if dark water actually is so much better than medjay, which I don’t know, I didn’t actually try, and that’s your reason Sobek seems worth it, then alright.

Ra is great with Camels from his bonus of increased attack (assuming its not being changed) then having Sobek for higher hit point and health regenerating Camels then being able to go Osiris for Desert Wind for higher health, attack and speed Camels they can be really good and fun to use.
These techtree changes are great.
They’re good changes, but I think Medjay should be re-added elsewhere because a mercenary buff makes sense.
Also, I think Hathor will be re-added as a DLC God.

I wonder if there is a good way to make Medjay work again without it being overpowered in some stages of the game.
Maybe make them not lose HP when they are close to a Town Centre or any allied building.
Like pretty close.
So you can keep them around your base a little longer to help defending but you can not go out and attack the enemy base with them.
The challenges of going Sobek are: 1) no offensive god power, and the new locust swarmth is ineffective, 2) weak myth units: petsuchos is cool looking but mediocre in combat. With huge roc nerfs, it is even less useful than before, 3) weaker late game. Before one value of Hathor is the late game mercenary spam, but mercenary is hugely nerfed.
Both Ra and Isis, who have access to Sobek, are mostly fast heroic civilizations, meaning their bonuses are not for early classical fighting, (not saying they cannot). When you do fast heroic, you need to have a power spike to inflict some serious damages fast, either in the form of a timing push or a raid. This is because to fast heroic, you turtle in early game, allowing your opponent to have the advantages of larger army, free hunts and second tc. Sobek now is not very good at inflicting any quick damage. In some map, the fast heroic power spike is essential for securing the second gold.
The camel tech is mostly for raiding. It is nice to have, and may work for Ra, but I don’t think it can compensate all the nerfs.
At last, I am not afraid to say the unpopular opinion that Roc is way over nerfed: all civs have ranged heroes to attack air, no free spawn, really slow landing and lifting. If you follow any competitive AOM channel, you will know top players agree the new roc is mostly unusable now.

Sobek beside looking badass and fitting way better to crocodiles (wish there would always this consistency in somewhat fitting myth units and their minor gods) there really are not as many changes from Hathor. (Since I never really use mercenaries the upgrade always was not interesting for me personally)
I don’t know how weak/strong petsuchos/petsobek is but maybe it really could need some buffs.
What definitely needs a buffs is his GP Locust (more dmg and maybe a bit wider path?)
New Camel upgrade sounds nice but doesn’t change the “attractiveness” of chosing Sobek or not. - at least in my opinion.
roc needed some adjustments. i like the fly down and up mechanic. I also like it doesnt get spawned immediately. But i think some small cost adjustments and maybe HP buffs could make it more viable and would be fair i guess.
