Some screenshots from the new trailer

Hello everyone! Like some of you, I’ve just seen the last trailer and I thought I’d share some screenshots and maybe discuss what we think of the new designs?

I’ll begin:

We finally get to see the egyptian titan as well as prometheus, who now looks way more like he’s made of clay. I think they both look fantastic! We also get a new look of what seems like a new scandinavian unit (bondi?) What are your thoughts about the new visuals?

I only ask for the complete hotkey configuration like aoe4, thank you

Also, at the end of the trailer, they showed some artworks of primary gods in the following order:

Gaia, Ra, Loki, Poseidon, ?, Isis, Thor and Zeus.

Who do you think this one is supposed to represent?

Could he possibly be a new primary god? Share your thoughts.

What does it have to do with the topic?

Thx for he screenshots.

Maybe it’s Oceanos from the atlanteans? Looks kinda similar for me but maybe I am wrong.

What did you like and what maybe not of the new footage?

I thought at first he was Oceanos, but then I noticed that every other god presented is a major god… so I think maybe he could be a new one. We now know there’s going to be new gods added as DLC, as this suggests:

Overall I think I love everything from the new trailer, except maybe for the wolf spirit next to Loki, it just feels weird imo. I absolutely love the titan designs and I’m glad they stayed true to most of the units and buildings original designs. I am happy to know that the game will still feel like aom.

I found more info on future DLC from the premium edition on the xbox store: (Buy Age of Mythology: Retold Premium Edition | Xbox)

So we know that the first DLC will include Chinese pantheon! The wording makes me think that it will be different from the EE Chinese pantheon, but time will tell.

I hope these two DLCs offer more civs than just one.

  1. Chinese and Japanese
  2. Celts and Slavs
  3. Mesopotamia & Israelites
  4. Aztecs and Incas
  5. Buddhists & Hindus

Oceanus I believe. (20 characters)

Freyr as new god for the Norse. I don’t know how I feel about the shopping gods. Of course, expansion you buy, but alone I find it strange.

Oh I didn’t notice it at first. maybe this could be a hieracosphinx? (sphinx with upgrade). This could have been a gripphin too but it lack the wings.

Most look great. But the movement of giant units look somewhat weird.

These screenshots are so much better than the first ones we got. You can tell AoMR using AoE3s bang engine just by the graphics. Beautiful.

The Premium Edition seems very worthy to buy. New modeled chinese civ and another pantheon!

Is that tropical vegetation in the background of one of the Atlantean screenshots? That’s cool. Also glad to hear they will add a reworked Chinese in one of the DLC.

Oceanus of the Atlanteans?

As I said previously, all the other gods presented are major ones. My guess is this is the new god Freyr. I explain:

he does seem have to have elven traits. We do know that Alfheim is the realm of the elves, as well as Freyr’s home. That’s why my guess is the portrait represents Freyr. What do you think?

Are they going to sell major gods as dlc civs?
Well I’m not object to that as major gods in this games actually function as civs while the “civs” are more like “civ groups” in other games.

But the problem is, most other important gods are already minor gods. For example I’d consider Athena, Horus, etc. as good candidates of major gods but they are already in the game. Then you have to choose less important gods as new major gods.
Also are they going to expand the minor god list if each civ has more major gods? Otherwise the selection would overlap.
