In certain very rare cases, when a unit switches from ranged mode to melee mode, it strikes with its melee animation but far from its target, as if it were still using its old firing range.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

I’ve taken three consecutive screenshots of computer-controlled janissaries in melee mode. Only one attacks from an absurd distance, as if he’d kept his shooting range.
It also happened to my pavisiers. I ordered them to go into melee against a falconet, but one of them started to use his spear from a great distance.
This happened to me twice in this same game. But I’ve seen it in others too. It’s still very rare but it’s surprising when it happens. It reminds me somewhere of an old bug of the spearmen’s infinite range in Age of Empires 4.
