Tbh, it was pretty even the whole game considering the huge mistakes both players made in the beginning. Sure, Knusch didn’t have the other age 4 shipments but Kaiser also wasn’t prepared to counter a FI. That’s the thing though, none of the games I’ve seen so far have resulted in slaughter or a decisive win. So it seems that it’s not OP but at the very least very strong. I still think the FI can be countered if anticipated. But like Garja said, we will see.
Regarding the papal guard maybe the bow/pike shipments cost can be reduced from 24 to 20 if its too strong!!
However one thing that I really find awesome about that politician is how back on TAD we would almost never see the tercio pikeman being used in competitive play and now we do and it would be a shame to remove it entirely!!
Hopefully we can find a way around this issue!!

@Max5s delaying is age up time from 20 sec is a big mistake, delaying it from 2 min is game over ^^

This is not only this game, so many FI win recently you can see in differents stream.
DE is still new and wasnt good to play for a long time because of too many bugs so guys keep in mind that a lot of top players didnt really start to play seriously (like diarouga, mitoe etc…)
So indeed there isnt many threads in esoc speaking about new spain cause very few top players actually play serious atm.
Despite this, the amount of spain games you can encounter in QS has already been multiplied by like 2 or 3 ??? This is significant about how players see spain strenght right now and i would say it is pretty clear that the new politician who’s worth 4k ress is totally unconsistent with the rest of the age up option and a mistake. This is similar to the old japan age4 wonder bugs which made everybody rage against japan for years on RE patch.

What I said above was with all due respect. I wasn’t critiquing either player. I’m not making a case in favor or against the politician; I’m just saying give it time to see how the players adjust to this new strategy before nerfing it.
ok I understand what you mean, many cards in 4 age to perform this specific strategy added to the bonus of xp makes you have a very easy spam of pikemen crossbowmen, heavy canons even 4 culverins, I understand what you say but before they nerf it , I only ask you to try it many times to see if it is invincible and needs to be nerfed or there are countertrategies, I am bored with the same FF of Spain and when new strategies come out the nerfs are instantaneous, it is like an effort that Spain can only do same forever. I already happened with the logistician in the beta, it did not last a week until they nerfed it and left it useless, do not leave this good strategy useless please

Knusch takes 13 minutes to reach industrial, you mean no civ can kill you in that time? really? neither otto nor india? We are sure we want to nerf something that takes so many minutes to take effect, I think you already have ways to counter it …

Its 4000 res because you get the vet upg as well so 200/200 *2 + 600/600 + 1000/1000 = 4000.
You can FI in 10.30 maybe faster, here knush forget to go age 2, he age in more than 6 min lol.
And ofc you can’t do that in all mu, if your opponenet rush you won’t just blind FI but it’s not rush vs FI, if the spain are rushed he can stay age 3, hold your stuff and won (super ez now with 9 xbow), if you try to follow him in age 3 you can’t punish the FI. This build is by the way very map dependent, in a low food base you can’t do it but on siberia it’s an other story.

yeah u right i forgot 3 age upgrades, Well, in Siberia I just lost with this strategy against a British man who, with his best economy, had like 10 falconets in 3 age, and I only had 2 heavy canons and 2 falconets, and that I immediately attacked that I saw that he rose to 3 age lol , but he knew he was going to that strategy and with cannons and longbows he broke me

What people don’t get yet is that on DE lot of things are stronger and more viable, not just the the xbow-pije FI. The meta is already shifted toward FI because of that. Other civs have their own FI or semi FI where they put pressure in the 3rd age and then go industrial. That’s something Spain can’t do with xbow pikes and doesn’t have much advantage over other civs by doing it with other units.
The synergy part is partially about how the strat is crafted and ultimately it’s what makes a strat competitive. So can’t use it a baseline for balance. The politician is probably the only out of the line thing. 4k resources is a bit too much. Remove the pike ups and it’s “only” 1.6k which considering it’s for a very specific purpose it’s comparable to the standard 1k value of units or crates.

I can confirm this strategy have multiple counters and people is learning how to destroy it , eco civs rape this trash easily , delete it if u want xDDDD i delete deck , this strat is pure trash haha
its not the only civ with this upgrade and not the only civ with an upgrade worth more than 1k resources
the fi is strong however if ppl sniff it out by simply looking at your deck and scouting they can kill this strategy with a timing. Preferably right as you’re going to age 4 if its a naked fi. If instead you’re doing a defensive fi it will take longer and you can follow them up with a stronger eco and better units if you can hold that initial onslaught…something Japan and Sweden do very very very well following spain up for the fi. Dutch also has a very strong fi with solid eco.
