look i still dont understand what you guys are trying to say or prove here, that whatever it is, it ISNT possible? you giys need to chage your attitude, think more positively.
and yes ANYTHING, i repeat, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. the program is made by people, the game’s “engine” can be reworked and reprogrammed into a ■■■ robot if you really want ok? like i said, it just depends on if someone is willing to put the work into this or that feature or concept , whatever it may be.
i wish there was less people around telling everyone that “its impossible” blah blah blah. and NO im not jumping through your idiotic challenges because your whole contribution to this thread has been a waste of time.
but how much work would that honestly take? is it really fair to ask the devs to go off way into left field to make some way out of wack bonuses?
look at how much people like the current left field bonuses.
paper money
mercenaries
flemish revolution
relic bonus
and others.
being open minded is one thing, but frankly a lot of these “new proposed bonuses” reek of stuff that we have seen just doesn’t work well.
No, they aren’t. but they are WIDELY despised. just look around the various forums.
and yet people don’t seem to like those types of bonuses - especially “one off” unique techs.
actually there are some changes i do support, believe it or not. yeah, i’m anti radical change - you want to know why? because they don’t work well in the scope of aoe2.
you dont have to quote every point youre trying to make. i get it, i know what you mean the core game should remain the same. maybe some kind of option somewhere or type of game mode where none of the newer civs are allowed. you decide what constitutes new ok?
im not trying to suggest insane crazy crazy changes to the core game ok? well i am , but not in games you play ok? all im saying is that people should be encouraged to share any new ideas they have and yes whatever can be thought of can be done in the old aoe2 engine thats now running on windows 10 dx11 and is currenntly having online server maintainence done and getting more civs added and yeah its not really the same old exe file at this point.
it is refreshing that the genie editor still can work for both the new DE and the original games inc stgb which is cool, but thats just the dat file.
and even if the original game state update script parser part of the game is still the EXACT same theres no way they would be able to do multithreading and all that jazz without having access to parts of the game way deeper than just unit movement and attack.
i would assume to save hassle that most of that sort of thing is done with scripting. just look at the random map defs, 99% of the ranked/quick play/random map setup stuff is located in there spread across a few different files. literally just numbers. adding. and subtracting.
