Stop updating age 2!

I am not sure what you mean by this. isn’t this a tautology?

“apart from the overlap, there is no overlap”

Wait what? What do you mean?

There are no delayd here, the games are getting updates at a similar pace of Paradox games for example. Back in the day projects were coming out way more slowly

I hate hearing you all purists hoping the game dies so they “stop corrupting it”

Complain about the new civ design all you want (I want more civs and I still do complain about it), but the balance is literally never been better and you will still say its the worst thing ever.

And also drafts are cool, they are not “a fix”, they are an oportunity for tournaments to be even more enjoyable with plenty of mind games and interesting choices for players

This is one of the worst takes I have ever read. And boy…have I read some bad ones.

OP was pretty bad too–either a troll or a very selfish individual. Great way to divide the community. Wish this thread would just disappear.

I am still hoping for a game mode where I can just play AoK or AoC civs in a ranked queue on arabia. it’s a simple life

Yep. Weird wording on my end.

It’s interesting how you visit the forums every few months for some doomposting that usually turns out to be wrong, like your previous remark:

Even if they deleted the entire aoe2 server and dedicated all their resources into aoe4, it would still never sell as well or be anywhere near as popular as aoe2

I loved the classic AOE2 look but it was very dated so DE was just chef’s kiss. AOE4 sounded good but I did not like the design. It was the same with the Pokemon games after Black/White, Street Fighter 4, King of Fighter XIV?

Man, we all know that AOE 2 is the most popular and the one which gets more content due to ROI
AOE2 should keep updated. And here is telling you someone who enjoys all the games in the franchise (I, II, III, IV, AOM, even AOE Online) and whose favorite is III.

Is the art style that Relic and Worlds Edge chose back then due to Esports appeal!

Yeah because a campaign dlc was everything this small community wanted and spammed over 2k msgs, yeah you got me.

Not my point at all.

Wrong forum, you might find more like minded people in the AOE4 forum.

AoE 3 DLC was delayed because of Age of Mythology Retold development.

While OP i’m pretty sure is just a troll creating discord here and I disagree 100%, pretending that other games don’t consume the Age of Empires team resources is not true. The team used and is using a lot of resources on AoM Retold that delayed the content in other ages titles.

I’m pretty sure the biggest slice of Age of Empires players are solo content players…? (campaign and skirmish/co-op with friends versus AI).

Isn’t a solo content DLC exactly target most of this community?

The time is going to come when AoE 2 is going to be called Age of Empires Saga and will have themes of all its games … and then you will have from Minecraft Legends, WC3, SC2, Diablo 4, Swgb, Halo Wars 2 And by 2030 it will end up being “Age of Warcraft, Starcraft and Galactic Legendary Empires RTS Definitive Edition” XD …

Yes, the future of AoE 4 has little to do what FE do with AoE 2… AoE 4 is mostly Relic…FE and World Edge only serve as consultants…

Nor is it that they update it too much … a single map per season … pfff, that laziness …

The same, it is still a saga and not only AoE 2… however popular AOE 2, you can not neglect the newer games (except Mobile, that is a drawer cashgrab) because otherwise Microsoft will see that the newest games do not sell as much as they want and they will cut the financing of the entire saga and there we all lose, so I deal to a greater or lesser extent to support all the games of the saga buying their DLCS…

Good point … although it is not that the Red Bull gave a ball to AOE 3 in 2021 and 2022 when the game received DLCS and Updates all the time…now I resigne me a long time ago…

Of course, new games can serve to attract new players to AoE 2 and viceversa …

Yes, I do not complain that AOE 2 receives new content, in fact this Greek DLC seems interesting (I joke that the devs turned AOE 2 in AoE Online) but either to put aside the rest of the saga … they can get alternating among the DLCS of the entire saga so as not to seem that they overexploo 2 to the detriment of the other games…

Yes, AoE 2 will not stop having DLCS in fact from Return of Rome are putting mods as official dlcs (Return of Rome is Rome Returns mod, VaV are scenarios of the workshop and Battle for Grecce is Romae at Bellum) (without mention that LotW and DotD take concepts of Age of Chivalry mod and The Forgotten was a mod in 2012 before becoming an official expansion in 2 HD)…

Yes, I confirm … if you delete 2 DE, people would return to 2 HD or original AOK (very few would go to 4 or Retold)…

There is a good reason age of empires 2 has received the most updates and new nations.

I agree, dividing the community is not the solution, you should join the age of empires 2 community since it’s by far the largest.

And Relic is functionally dead.

Actually, I like AOE IV :pensive:

None of the AoE games have any subscription based model, micro transactions or a battle pass. They make 0 money out of people playing the game, they only make money off of people buying DLC.

AoE4 has had a very high peak on release and another one again when the DLC dropped. The peaks are higher then any AoE2DE DLC ever managed to get.
They also officially announced that the AoE4 DLC was the best selling Expansion in the history of the Franchise, that means better then The Conquerors!

So it seams like the high player number of AoE2DE are not translating into high sales.

Also AoE4 costs 2x as much as AoE2DE and even used to cost 3x as much (at last in Europe and North America).

But making content for AOE2DE is probably a lot cheaper.
