Stop updating age 2!

Since the definitive edition of Age of Empires, Age 2 has received the most updates and new nations.
Age of Empires 2 is already outdated and creating more content is a waste of time and resources that should be invested in newer games like Age of Empires 4.
The fact that Age of Empires 4 is so similar to Age of Empires 2 should support players migrating to version 4 and not promote more sales for Age 2.
Stop wasting time and resources on the old version of Age of Empires and encourage players to migrate to newer versions like Age 3 or Age 4 or even the mobile version that is about to be released.
Dividing the community is not the solution!

I agree we should all just move to the mobil version and give up all other aoe2 games great idea

Stop updating AOE4! Focus on developing AOE5…

newer is not better
aoe2 still has the larger player base. Expansions like this one which don’t (further) bloat the civ pool are perfect imo

I’m an AoE3 player and this is just stupid.

You should realize how ridiculous you sound, saying that devs dhould let the profitable 25 year old game with a loyal fanbase, regarded as an RTS classic, die. You sound like a terrible, greedy, out of touch studio exec.

AoE 2’s and 4’s playerbase barely overlaps apart from players that play both games.

Just to explain better… the problem is not that Age 2 is being updated. But when you delay other projects because there are too many similar games, there is something wrong there. Regardless of which game is deactivated, something needs to be done so that the community doesn’t lose the hype before it’s too late.

After AoE4 they decided to make AoE2 a Cringe.

Well, AoE 4 is pretty much in Relic’s hands

Yeah AoE4 updates need to be stopped and developers need to focus more on AoE2.

No, Aoe 4 is terrible. Despite being recently released, significantly fewer players play that game. It will be extremely stupid to stop supporting the most popular game of the franchise and wasting resources into unpopular ones.

LOL. Yes 30k people should leave their beloved game and play some crap played by just 3k people. Redbull didn’t even consider it a game to sponsor it in their El Reinado event and you want people to shift from aoe 2 to that.

There’s no division. Players play the game they like. Most played game in age franchise is aoe 2. You should be happy that despite being new and significantly less played aoe 3 and 4 are getting new content from time to time. Imo that’s the waste of resources.

You are absolutely right, so we should immediately stop updating AOE4 and allocate resources to more valuable games

Isn’t that the definition of overlap?

AoE4 dev skills aren’t transferable to AoE2 dev skills just like that. You’d need some time to train devs in which there wouldn’t be any development on neither AoE2 (someone has to do the training) nor AoE4

This DOC was made by an entirely new team that was working on a AoE2 mod before, those resources could not have been moved to AoE4.

This DLC has a completely different setting as AoE4.

The community has never been divided.
The release of a new game or DLC never impacted the player count of any of the other games in the Series.
Neither AoE4 nor AoMR release had an measurable impact on AoE2DE players numbers nor did any AoE2DE DLC on AoE4.
If anything the games just help each other at attracting new players.

The only solution is to finally kill AoE4 since it’s been irrelevant unless it gets new content.

And that too only for a month.

Actually i agree on the part of stop adding stuff to aoe II, this game has changed too much and for the worse compared to the original game, people around barely knows enough of the game mechanics to understand how much have they changed and broke the game, in a small comparison there used to be 5 Dominant civs in AOC, now we have like 15 broken civs just in terms of balance, the game is so poor balanced that all tournaments needs to use DRAFT system so the players do not pick the same civs and that is basically the only reason why you see variety in such events.

I am glad that those civ petitioners got what they deserved with a new campaign DLC, i just hope the addition of the new data mod doesn’t break up the base game.
