But the advanced game setting mod is a mod, made by the community and not compatible with all civs.
Itās not a mod!
Itās a feature of Age of Empires 4. Donāt make excuses for facts! If you think itās a mod, test it yourself.
You just need to configure the game with the default rules with 10 thousand pop. In fact, the settings are already set as the default game, youāre only changing 1 item. The rest of the settings remain the same as the default game. Now, the advanced mode is here for you to play however you want without mods! And I repeat, this has been there since the first day of Age of Empires 4ās release.
And I just tested it and it works with all nations, including the DLC that was released this month!
I repeat, donāt comment on facts that are fake news.
Advanced Game Settings is a mod and its creator initially quit further development on it because he was frustrated with the modding situation in AoE 4:
You must download it from the gameās mod section in order to use it, thus it is not something natively offered by the game:
Really? Cool, I will check. I couldnāt find before. Seems like the setting is in an odd place if it is in the game. But I do fight AoE4ās UI/UX quite a bit. It could use a nice overhaul, imo
I eventually did download a mod before, and that makes games a little more palatable to play. But, yeah, Iād like to uninstall it if it isnāt actually needed
Try some of the other settings it has, change the ending age with the variant Civs, doesnāt work.
Fake news? Itās literally in the mod menu of the main menu, the screenshot you posted refers to the GitHub repository. Why is it so bad to say it is a mod?
I donāt even know how to get to that screen. Only reason I get more population is due to the mod I installed.
Ahh, the answer.
Yes, @Brunoadc8, there is no Advanced Game Settings. This is what I see, which shows the population mod/Tuning Pack I have activated:
And thereās nothing about population capacity and no Advanced Settings under the gear icon settings menu from Main Menu:
PS for devs: Iām unclear on why itās called a āTuning Packā in the Create Game lobby. Seems like yet another non sequitur or non-intuitive thing about the UI. It should be called the same in both places, imo. Like, if āTuning Packā is going to stay in the above screen, then shouldnāt these say, āAll Tuning Packsā and āMy Tuning Packsā, respectively?
Iād rather it just say, āModsā in the lobby creation screen and everywhere, as I think it makes the most sense and most intuitive/recognized terminology?
I only play single-player these days, and tbh, Iām not impressed with AoE4 when it comes to single-player related contents as well as its AI. Thatās why I decided to get a refund after playing for a while. It has less campaigns and a weaker AI. So, big no from me. AoE2 is still good to go, and hopefully, theyāll bring even more DLCs into the game. Iāve no beef with AoE4, and if they can improve the single-player side of the game, I may reconsider purchasing it again, no biggies. However, as far as the single-player content goes, AoE2 is the superior game, and I donāt care which one is newer.
The reason the Advanced game settings appears for you as a game mode is because you are subscribed to the mod. Without subscribing to the mod, it doesnāt appear, do you not remember subscribing to the mod? check the āMy modā tab, you will see it.
Itās not official, it was community made. Why choose this hill to die on?
Maybe this is just a language barrier issue. Either way this is a topic for the AOEIV forums.
⦠it is still a mod as indicated by this icon.
This topic is okay here. The OP is, literally, trying to stop AoE2 updates and decrease sales, and instead get migration of players over to AoE4 (and AoE3) and more dev support for AoE4. If youāre trying to reach AoE2 fanbase, the AoE2 thread area is the best way to do so. And it make sense to state within this thread AoE4 issues (UI, population count, etc.).
Thanks for the attempt to help. Sadly, that doesnāt work. Try looking here⦠you will find you installed that mod at some point:
:)) when AOE4 stop use standard victory . Aoe but win when destroy some building ( while left 150 timeline?? ) develop what. Haizzz game .
Sorry guys
I believe this topic is already saturated. Thank you all for your opinions. I appreciate the clarifications too and I apologize for anything.
Yes, AoE 2 doesnāt stop receiving DLC āāand campaigns all the time⦠theyāre already going for 40 campaigns⦠however in comparison, the rest of Age game pale in that⦠AoE 3 has 8 campaigns (9 if you count Historical Battles) (of which the first 3 are neither historical nor use the multiplayer civs, but customized ones), AoE 4 has 6 campaigns (7 if you count Historical Battles) (one exclusive to Xbox and another uses customized civs like in AoE 3), Retold has 4 (although the first can be divided into 3 campaigns), so it would be like 6 campaigns (Greeks, Egyptians, Norse, Norse again, Atlanteans and Chinese) (7 if you count Arena of the Gods) and AoEO has like 8-12 campaigns but they are MMO type, so they donāt countā¦
