One thing not many might know is the fact that Fire Lancers are the slowest cavalry unit in the game.
Because of the Yuan Dynasty effect they gain 15% additional movement speed like all other units, which grants them enough movement speed to be useful. However, as soon as you leave the Yuan Dynasty, the Firelancer becomes significantly worse, to the point where they are no longer able to get their charge attack in and retreat.
- Fire Lancers have less HP and the recently nerfed Horsemen
- Fire Lancers have less base movement speed than Knights
Therefore, a simple suggestion will allow them to retain their effectivness throughought the game:
- Raise their base speed to be faster than other cavalry, that means faster than Horsemen, Scouts and Rus Cavalry Archers
- They should be unaffected by the Yuan Dynasty movement speed bonus to make sure they do not move too fast.
This is important, since Fire Lancers are used against the infamous Rus Cavalry Archers which seem to be dominating the game at the moment, together with Scouts obviously.
