Once “Quick Match” is removed everyone will be forced to host games just the way we’ve done on ESO, Voobly, EE, AoE3 and this will lead to a long lasting stable community. This will lead to new friends, new clans and more competition.
Currently, Quick Match is dividing the community that wants to play unranked games, we don’t want to play rated 24/7. With quick match it puts us vs noobs, which is a waste of time. We’re forced to play on that silly Quick Match mapset, which isn’t fun.
We’ll have a community where we can host games titled Experts Only, Noobs etc. We get to interact with other players, we get to pick the maps, we get to pick who plays. We want to relax and play with friends of different skill level. At the moment the community is competing against Quick Match because players are not using the lobby.
I have never played AoE4 but I’m guessing you have a similar feature there and this is the mistake on your part. The AoE4 community is constantly declining, you guys should fix your mistake here and remove “Quick Match” from Retold.
-The filters for “Browse Games” should save so we don’t have to set them each time.
-Game Title for regular games should be blank so we’re forced to enter a meaningful title.
-Adding in-game observing option; Normally we have a group of friends who play game after game and some want to take a break, the in game observing option would be very convenient. Atm, we have to leave and find the game, which is not easy and players end up leaving.
Example, you have a player who only plays rated with a few friends but none are online. No one wants to waste time on Quick Match and Retold has no lobby games…remove Quick Match.
The lobby mini game is fine for custom matches, including those with friends, but if you’re just looking for a game to play, quick match is the solution. I have wasted so much time starting lobbies and no one shows, joining a lobby and being kicked out for no apparent reason, hitting refresh for new lobbies to open up and reading through lobby titles and hoping for something that matches what I’m looking for and reflects my skill level.
You were kicked because you didn’t read the title…
So you basically want the dev to force people to play you in Quick Match? Why should they waste their time on winning a lower level player, they wouldn’t enjoy it and neither will you. It’s best that you host a game titled your skill level and people will join, which makes sense.
It’s not the only reason why someone would kick me from a lobby and I may have no way of knowing the true reason. There’s no explanation. Only a pop-up which states I was kicked.
I’m not asking the devs to force players to do anything. There is quick match. There are lobby games. Play the way you like.
Removing QP doesn’t make sense. Quickmatch serves its purpose of matching casuals against each other without too much effort or time wasted. Hosting lobbies are not really suited for premades either.
They could definitely improve the title system, as in AoM EE we didn’t see lot of public “noobmaister666’s” lobbies filling up the lobby feed. Private, Full and ongoing games were also hidden.
Also plese check your facts, AoE4 isn’t dying, its playerbase was stable for a year before AoMR and would be much higher if they actually released new civs. Of course people will jump to different table if they have only been getting pizza in their current one for a year.
