it could start with Fortress Age>Imperial Age>Industrial Age>Modern Age>Information Age
Underwater combat: this would be a great concept for underwater battles with submarines, you can have a new view as underwater, I don’t see this concept in any other game
Underwater combat is available once you reach Modern Age as you can start to produce submarines
Air combat: it is introduced once you reach Modern Age
Eliminate the concept of Capital City giving cards.
Fortress Age: you have musketeers
Imperial age you have slow cannons, and some units found in AoE3
Industrial Age, you have the concept of machines and better cannons
Modern Age: period of the world war 1 and world war two
Modern age: you can start to build airplane fighters and submarine and unlocks underwater view.
Modern Age: you can now build apartment buildings which give you 4x more population than houses.
Information Age: you have a technology Global Position System, this one is very expensive, and it is available to be researched in the late game, it reveals map and has no fog, so you can see the whole map, similar to the cheat in AoE as reveal map and no fog
Tanks are available in the Modern Age, but more powerful tanks, airplanes, submarines are available in the Information Age.
Helicopters are available in the Information Age.
You must upgrade musketeers from the Fortress into imperial musketeers in the imperial age, then, you must upgrade imperial musketeers into soldiers in the Modern age.
Characteristics:
You have now iron mines instead of stone mines, or both.
-Underwater combat.
-Air combat.
-Residential Apartments which give 4x more population capacity than houses, this will be the first time apartments and tall buildings would be insert in the franchise
-Tank combat.
Steam age/Second Industrial Revolution (1874 - 1914)
Machine age / World Wars era(1914 - 1944)
Atomic age/Digital age (1944 - 1974)
Information age/Space age (1974 - 2004)
Each period is 30 years.
Military units change their skins depending on the weather of the map for better camo (i.e. tanks painted in white in snowy maps, planes painted brown in desert maps, etc.)
Yeah and have aircrafts levitate in mid air while you are doing something else. Gosh some of these suggestions are downright silly.
There is a reason WW2 rts games are actually rtt (tactical) like COH or Sudden Strike, calling aircrafts as abilities as opposed to building them like in the style of AOE. Unless you want to have a sci-fi Starcraft or WW2 Empire Earth silly childish gameplay that is.
It works in Civ with an airport or carrier base where the aircraft returns after an attack because it’s a different genre, with planetary sized maps.
@IamDalv you should go and play some Empire Earth games. It is not a great game in part because it span through too many periods of historic time and even go further to the future. Too many ages make it silly because it was possible to be fighting tanks with clubs and planes with archers. But the good thing about Empire Earth is it can show you how planes and tanks can work on an RTS without being an RTT or a turn based game.
EDIT: I just realize that you already knew about empire earth. Can you explain more why/what is the silly childish part of it?
That is what i said if you read my comment and that is also the problem: calling it as abilities like in COH is RTT gameplay, not RTS, while area of action doesn’t make sense in AOE since maps are not thought to be of planetary size like in Civ or RON. Are you telling me a plane is only going to be capable of covering an area that you can cover with a villager in a couple of seconds as well? That is silly and childish.
It doesnt work in Empire Earth, that’s just a silly gameplay.

I don’t understand why you think that maps can’t be bigger or why planes cann’t have more movement speed than villagers.
I will quote myself from another post talking about how planes should work in new AOE if you wanna avoid spamming too many of them or flying in circles while idle, since this topic is more accurated for this discussion while avoiding spam or anything else:
@KingDarBoja said: “Anyone here played Axis & Allies (2004)? The planes were made at the airbase (airport?) and you had to launch them to a specific objective (if a bomber) while being escorted by fighters. You had the possibility to change they rally point but only drop three bombs in a fly.”
I feel it should involve all the great empires including the Roman empire! I don’t think AoE should include modern era units as this would make it too much like other games that are already released.

like you said it will be great if they just mash up AoE1 and AoE2 with different unique units with each civilization just like they did with asian-dyansty and warchiefs. More like The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth.
Wouldn’t this just turn into a contest of who can age up (to get planes and submarines) the fastest? The gaps of power between ages would be too high imho.
War between Peter I and his father, the King of Portugal.
3-American Civil War:
This campaign must be great to play.
4-Opio War:
War between the British and the Chinese
Great potential to have epic fights in the sea between British, French, US and Russian vs Chinese.
5-Meijin Revolution(Japonese Empire war):
Great potential for epic fights.
6-Risorgimento(Italian war to regroup the country against foreign enemies such as the Austriac Empire):
Great potential for Epic fights to unite.

8-Mexican Revolution:
Also, another possibility to have an epic campaign, with many fights.
9-First Great World War campaigns(many campaings)
This could be divided into about 5 or more campaigns
Huge potential to have epic campaigns.

Great potential to have epic battles in this campaign.
12-Second Great World War campaigns:
Great potential to have lots of epic campaigns and battles.
Potential to have about 10 campaigns or even more based in this period.
Potential to have campaigns based on being the Nazi, The Italian Facism, Japonese campaign, American Campaing, French campaign, British Campaign, Conquest of the German Nazi by the Allies, and lots of campaigns just in this period, and in each campaign, you can be one civilization, that’s really a great potential to have lots of campaigns, of course I don’t support the Nazi, but you can play with both sides, and that will be great.
13-Napoleonic Wars:
You can have also Napoleonic war campaigns, that’s great.
14-Chinese Civil War:
