Can someone explain what happened in June, why the teams stopped being selected normally. Why do they give me 1 point for a win and 20 points for a loss?
I’m not sure how they calculate it, but basically:
Beat someone better than you = gain more points.
Lose to someone better than you = lose less points.
Lose to someone worse than you = lose more points.
Beat someone worse than you = gain less points.
As you get closer to equal it should be a roughly even trade in points I assume.
Juan the xxxx strikes again. From the screenshots there is nothing wrong. Most of the matches are preety balanced except for one with 2k opponent and the last one. You didn’t lose point for those losses anyway.

You also need to keep in mind that you may be playing against premades. Team games are pretty difficult to balance.
teams are always a bit wonky. they are simply 4-8x more difficult to balance. Especially as you go up in elo, people tend to lobby instead of ranked because of not only the long queues and unbalanced matches, but the amount of smurfs and smurf boosting destroy any semblance of competitive worth to teams higher up. So most the “good” players when they want to “competitive” matchs stick to lobbies where they can balance themselves and smurfs/lamers who abuse smurf booster can sod off. So if you queue ranked you need to just treat it as a ai selected lobby because yes, by the issues and small playerbase (made smaller by lack of consequence to abusers of said systems) and as you gain elo its going to be alot of "5w1l for -5 because all the wins are +1 and the one loss is -10. I dont like it but it is what it is. Just queue and dont stress about your team pixel points after all few if any really put much stock in team elo because of what we got.
I don’t see any “difficulty” in balancing the teams of elo and winstreak. But this doesn’t happen. And again and again and again. Why do the Smurfs only work after June? When do they have the weekend again so I can play ranked?

The problem is very few people are in queue. At 7 mins it matches you with whoever is available. Also some people like to play with friends, meaning they go premade. If one team is premade it’s harder to balance the elo.
Maybe it’s just me, but if you’re going to accuse people of smurfing you should, at the very least, provide recorded games.
The mathematics behind this are quite complicated. Even games that have a much bigger player base have a hard time producing balanced teams.

Okay, but why in June?
I am going to ask you in good faith what is your background in statistics? Because it will allow me to know how nerdy to respond to your question of why teams are imbalanced. I now know your elo, so you can largely ignore things of smurf boosting/smurfing/hacks/etc as they are very rare at your level (but no doubt probably do occur). As for why June, well short answer is "statistical error you experienced prior- error in a statistical sense of the word.
The short version is simply - We have at any time maybe 300 or less team players active in a queue. usually like 100-200. Of that, maybe 50% are 3v3. Of those 3v3, many are premade. How likely are you to consistently get people around your elo? For me in the upper part of elo not even por just top 500-400 (when still ranked) with same or higher peers it would take us avg 7-10 minutes on evening time for me, which is a slow time, and only on weekends did we really get consistent games. Usually, it was vs the same few guys. And this was 2v2s, 3v3s were even worse. So, we gave up and mostly stick to teams in lobbies or organize in our discord. So do most teams.
Even at your elo which is close to the “fattest” part of the bell curve aka most common, there is going to be a lot of times there are few eq teams playing. And during those times you or another team will hit 7 minute queue and the game will say “f it lets go.” People have suggested including an option to reset queue at 7 minutes but no implementation has happened. Because most veterans of aoe3 realize its just better to lobby teams.
no answer how much statistical background you have so I can explain it in a manner you understand, because as presented the answer is “you and your buddies arent as good as you thought”
Is this dip due to skill regression or flux of elo common in aoe3? Need more games. 100s ideally. Then tell me how you think the system works then

I ask what happened in June. Everyone ignores my question and posts something about statistics. Can you also offer to play me 10,000 games so that the statistics become more accurate? This is absurd. There is a fact that since June, my team in 8/10 cases has a total less elo than the enemy team. Moreover, this is a stable difference of 250 elo. This is how statistics work in my opinion.

Did you your elo rise to a point where you were simply matched into better players and lost?
Do you know what “regression to the mean” means?
No ones answering you because nothing happened in June. No update, no patch, no matchmaking change no new system no bumps or sudden decreases in playerbase. Nothing. And given how much issues I’ve tried to explain with matchmaking, getting 8 games in a row is more likely to be a statistical variance occurring than anything actually changing. if you play 221 games the chances of a 8 streak vs higher people is actually pretty high. That’s how stats work. So until you can demonstrate something new/novel/out of expectations is occuring (like 100s of games of which say 60% are vs higher elo teams) then there is nothing to see here
It has nothing to do with june, you just noticed it now. Such is the nature of the problem. This happens in pretty much any game. Nothing to do with aoe3 specifically. This is why 1v1 queues are considered more representative of skill.
