so its not really a game bug but i figure this is the best place to talk about it
its been some time since this becomes a thing, where you search for sth but completely irrelavent mods shows up first, which severly lowers the quality of the search result
example mod for you to check out the description text: Mods Single - Age of Empires
quite a few mod uploaders, mainly i see are scenario modders:
- use all the available tags
- have a list of popular mods’ names in their mods’ description section for seo farming
this needs to get regulated for a better searching experience
not sure what exactly would be the best solution, maybe admins can warn the individuals / have some limitation on the description text / limit the max amount of tags to choose for a mod …?
This issue has been reported before but thanks for the reminder. I’ve now limited it so they can only select a maximum of 7 tags.
The description spam is tougher to fight in an automated way. I’ve cleaned up this particular author’s mods, and can do so for others that are reported, but I’ll have to look at other ways of trying to limit that. Limiting the overall length of the description isn’t a great option since there are some more complex mods where a long description is justified.
Thanks for the report and input!
