Tale of Spaghetti Code. Things they just cant fix

Certain bugs have been reported many times over the years, and never addressed. ITT you get to know what they are.

#1: HRE University impervious to bombard damage

#2: Abyuud tooltip broken for industry age up after age 4 (instead it has the military tooltip)

#3: Ottoman War Galleon (the one that creates free troops) cannot unload any of its created troops. This ship is actually worthless due to this.

#4 Relic Dupe (yep its still around buuut im not spilling how to do this one for the sake of the game)

#5 Mongol double stone glitch

Im sure theres more but these are just a few i know about

Don’t forget not being able to receive rewards from all sources, or editing your profile picture, monument, and banner.

I cannot understand how they let something so integral to the user experience go unaddressed for over a year.

Mongol unpacking not being reliable and deleting control groups. All spearmen using the wrong spear models in castle and beyond. Mongol trebuchet firing animation desynced from actual attack. Limitanei’s castle age skin is broken. After researching Teardrop Shields, Limitanei keep putting away their shields when they stop moving. Streltsy shooting animation is completely broken. Springald shooting is not synced up with its sound.

Not sure much, if any of this, has anything to do with “spaghetti code”.

Some (but not many) of these are probably even fixable with the mod tools we have.

Those are actually all relatively easy to fix from programming point of view.

One bug that we will most certainly never see a fix for though, because of true engine limitation, is the fact that characters considers undiscovered walls into the pathfinding (they will try to go around a wall that you don’t see yet).

As a programmer, i can understand how this one could be really complex to solve. Or could lead to more bugs.

But all the ones listed in OP post they could certainly fix if they put a bit of time on them.

Switching player perspective makes everything vanish from the minimap.

That’s not a bug though. That’s just how pathing works in pretty much every RTS. It’s more apparent in AoE games though due to walls.

It would be way more computationally demanding to not work that way. Plus you’d create some annoying interactions.

Wait, when did #3 become a thing? I’ve definitely done that before and it worked.

I believe Ayyubids have an even worse one than that tooltip error. One of the economic wings does not work properly in age 3 or 4. It gives the 10% bonus only to already existing villagers (including enemies) and not new ones.
