TBP trailer is out!

Does it bring a lot new audio to replace old sounds if you want? Where when you click buildings they sound like what they are instead of everything sounding like an encyclopedia getting dropped on a table? And more than , “Yes, Right, Conmandement” for Explorer? To mention a couple

Removing all the build limits would be nice too unless balance is heavily dependent and inextricably tied to it?

What is The Baltic Powers?

The Baltic Powers DLC is centered in the northern reaches of Europe, and covers the struggle for supremacy in and around the Baltic Sea. It is at the heart of a much larger Northern expansion and a counterweight to the previous Mediterranean expansion.

Make a stopover on the warring British isles. Tip the scales by allying with the Scottish House of Stuart and their kilt-wearing Clansmen to eliminate the enemy Lords. From there, continue your voyage along the coast of Norway and meet the Sámi people. Past the volcanoes of Iceland and guided by lighthouses, you venture into the frozen Arctic realms of Greenland and Nunavut, where the local Inuit people or even dubious whalers can increase your chances of survival.

The two newest civlizations coming to Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition share the same coastline, but the Danes and the Poles each have their own distinctive identity and visions of empire.

As a defensive, mercantile power, the Danes rely on their Customs House to generate revenue from the shipments of other players. Round Churches and Snaphaner Militias protect this source of wealth used to finance a modern fleet and an elite of royal guard regiments. Happy to support their king, the Danes are also able to advance for lower costs and have no desire to revolt.

In contrast, the Poles are an expansive, land-based power, tirelessly working the fields of their Folwarks to feed a diverse army of horsemen, spearheaded by the legendary Winged Hussars. This Commonwealth of peoples thrives on a growing population that empowers the Sejm parliament, a powerful economic tool in the hands of magnates. Attracted by the prospect of riches and independence, Cossacks and Teutonic Knights wait in the shadows for their moment to strike.

These fascinating regions and chapters of history are yours to explore. The Baltic Powers offers a great mix of content ranging from all-time favorites like new civilizations and maps, to more unique and rare additions such as challenges and a plethora of hero customizations. The Baltic Powers has something in store for everyone, enhancing the experience for new and seasoned players alike.

What is Regicide Mode?

Regicide is a classic mode first introduced in Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings in 1999. The format is simple: Players who lose their Regent – traditionally a King – are instantly defeated.

In The Baltic Powers we decided to switch things up: The Regent is no longer a feeble, insanely fast unit that hides in a tower all game. Instead, they now have a presence on the battlefield with a lot of hitpoints and no option to hide. This requires players to pay more attention to the objective of the mode: Kill the enemy Regents and don’t get killed while trying!

What is Independence Mode?

Independence mode lets you experience the raw core of every civilization without the safety net of their Home Cities. Cut off from XP and shipments, victory rests solely on your tactical ingenuity. Traditional XP sources are either silenced or repurposed to provide a mix of all resources – such as Trade Routes. To compensate for the lack of shipments, starting resources are instant and Villagers gather slightly faster.

We have also given every civilization an updated set of unique bonuses to preserve their identity. For example, the Spanish research all technologies faster and the Lakota can break up camp to relocate their buildings. Iconic, exclusive assets such as Forts, Factories, and even the mighty Ottoman Sipahi are no longer locked behind shipments. Instead, they can all be accessed organically in your civilization – fully independent of the Home City.

Which Maps Are Added in The Baltic Powers?

You will get to explore over 25 new thematic maps, featuring an Arctic Map Pack spanning from Svalbard to Nunavut. Traverse the frozen tundra by Inuit dog sled or brave the ice aboard a grim Whaling Ship. Disembark further south in Nova Scotia or the Shetlands to enlist Scottish Clansmen loyal to the House of Stuart. Here are some sneak peaks:

Bering Straight
Greenland
Svalbard

New Historical Maps include:

  • The Livonian War
  • The Dano-Swedish Wars
  • The Wars of the Three Kingdoms

Bonus Map Pack

In addition to brand new maps, The Baltic Powers also grants full access to these selected DLC maps to play in the homelands and historical battlefields of the new main and minor civilizations:

  • 14 Random Maps: Baltic, Danish Straits, Pomerania, Vistula Basin, Lithuania, Courland, Jutland, Pripet Marshes, Dnieper Basin, Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, Finland.
  • 4 Historical Maps: The Deluge, The Great Northern War, The Great Turkish War, The Thirty Years’ War.

Which Hero Customizations are added in The Baltic Powers?

The Hero Cosmetics Pack Vol. 2 is our largest customization set yet. The Baltic Powers features over 50 distinct looks for heroes from all civilizations. Here are just a few of the highlights included in the collection:

Hürrem Sultan

Ottomans

Frederick the Great

Germans

Carnival Dancer

Portuguese

Maigadi Officer

Hausa

Roxelana

The Old Fritz

Samba!

Domin Sarki!

…plus dozens more, including Gustavus Adolphus, the Valkyrie, or the Arctic Explorer.

Alongside a vast majority of brand-new outfits, this pack also includes highly requested cosmetics from past monthly events that you might have missed, such as Ada Lovelace, Mila the Bear and Thor. For owners of Hero Cosmetics Pack Vol.1, this is the perfect opportunity to build the ultimate “closet” for heroes and complete your collection.

What Happened to the Native Winged Hussar Unit?

The Winged Hussar was first introduced in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition – Knights of the Mediterranean as a native unit belonging to the the Royal House of Vasa. With the release of The Baltic Powers the Winged Hussar is taking its rightful place as a Polish unique unit.

In return, the House of Vasa can now train the Companion – an equally hard-hitting cavalry unit armed with a war hammer. This ensures that the Vasa remain a powerhouse on the battlefield, while allowing the Poles to fully embrace their most iconic historical unit.

Can I Still Play Honshu Regicide?

Yes! Although we do encourage you to play the new Regicide mode, the old version of Regicide limited to the Honshu map remains in the game and continues to be playable.

One word: BIG

20 characters for filling purposes.

Is this their promotional image? It looks like the one of the lumber camps failed to generate.

The blue team has its lumber camp at the northern side of its base.

I saw that, I had missed the red one.

What bothers me the most is how bad the trade ship will look by zigzaguing on the road…

esas cartas ya tenian otro nombre, pero les cambiaron el nombre por que la civ en si misma ya representaba la casa real

Unfortunately that’s just an issue with how trade routes generate. It is even worse trying to fit them in a narrow channel and not clip into the shore at every turn.

So do I. The new german and jap revolts are gonna be free (which is something I expected for long time) so even for those who don’t buy it will get new stuff. I’m very very glad to get the DLC in less than a month :germany: :japan: :poland: :denmark:

I really expected a more spectacular trailer but its ok, I think

I would have it if I had campaigns.

I find that very strange, because the Oldenburg flag has always appeared for me at the native royal house; the House of Romanov flag has never appeared there. Could you tell me which map shows the Romanov flag at the Oldenburg post, please?

I would like to look into this finding, just to clear up any doubts.

Excuse me, for those who have managed to access the new maps: do you know if the Lenape natives appear on the Canadian maps? I also wanted to know how to access the whaling ships on the new Arctic maps, as well as how the lighthouses and small wooden cabins found on those maps work.

here they are on Muscovy:

I don’t remember seeing them on the new maps, which is perfectly fine, since they historically didn’t live there. I think the whaling ship will be available once you’ve built a trading post. As for the lighthouses and the cabins, you must kill guardians to capture them.
