I’m impressed by the game and enjoy it frequently.
But… the picture speaks for itself. This is a common occurrence. It’s unwinnable and should result in 0 or 1 elo loss.
In the previous game I played the same opponents and my team scraped out a win despite being heavily disadvantaged elo-wise. Yet I gain 12 elo for this win and lose 21 elo in an unwinnable matchup.
ive reported this in a ticket a year ago.
in the first match id 564 end you must not lose elo
in the second match id 448 end you must win 25 elo and the 1409 12 elo
for the is what would be fair
in the first match they win 14 points in total and your team lose 25 points. But your team should just lose 1 point each.
there is no solution to this problem because the workaround of players is buying another account to play an smurf and that benefit earnings of age of empires retold in the short term, but in the long term the ranked games will die sooner.
Good point about the smurfing thing being a potential issue.
There is a workaround though.
Unwinnable matchups should not occur unless all players have been in the matchmaking queue for longer than 4 minutes.
This could probably be changed with a check that says
if (at least one of the teams is under 1600 average elo
AND average elo diff > 200
AND at least 1 player has been in queue for less than four minutes)
then don’t start match with these players
That way, anyone who wants to play one of those absurd unwinnable matchups can wait in the queue for longer than 4 minutes, and anyone who wants to play a normal game can keep resetting queue before 4 minutes elapses. And if both teams are above 1600 average elo it doesn’t matter.
There s currently 20 players in ranked team queue, every size (2v2 3v3 4v4) included.
The 4 minute rules is already enforced in fact because there s just not enough players.
I understand your point, but I assure you that the 4 minute rule as I described it is not enforced. The way it is now is more of a guideline, not a strict rule. We can see from the screenshot I showed where I got paired with two players elo ~1000 against three players elo ~1500. I was in the queue for less than 90 seconds.
@nobrainur yes its like they dont play ranked team games, they just talk
This problem has been going on for over a year, but it has gotten much worse in the last few months.
