TG Elo calculation is unfair
Currently, the way TG elo is calculated is by comparing your elo to the average elo of players in the game (I am pretty sure it is more complicated than this).
Example 1 Theoretical -
Situation 1: Everyone in a TG is 1500, and you lose.
Situation 2: Everyone in a TG is 1500, and you have a 1000-rated player on your team, and you lose.
In situation 2, you lose more elo than in situation 1 because you lost, and the average elo of players in the game was lower. Your chances of losing are also greater because the Elo difference between the teams isnât in your favour.
Example 2 Practical from AOMstats -
Image1: I play a balanced game where the elo of the lobby is 1599 (I am 1626), and I lose 18 elo. The elo difference of teams was 84 in favour of our team.
Image2: I play an imbalanced game where the elo of the lobby is 1400 (I am 1538), and I lose 18 elo. The elo difference of teams was 572 in favour of their team. I lost the same amount of elo in both games, despite one being slightly favoured to my team and the other being practically unwinnable.
TG matchmaking
TG matchmaking is currently not optimised to create games where the TG elo difference between each team is minimised.
Image3 included. The likelihood that Anatolia_dodger and I were the only ones pre-made is 99% according to my investigation. Squirrel (Susano) and Mikhael (Poseidon) should have swapped positions in the teams to make the game more balanced.
Suggestion:
Everyone in the team should gain/lose the same amount of elo based on the elo difference between teams, and matchmaking should be optimised to minimise the elo difference between teams.
