The achievements say it all: move the 3k out of ranked!

Saying that is just admiting defeat

Because theres no way they are doing that

I’m not sure I understand, I thought the DOI split was well regarded? You would like to reverse that?

Im being ironic

But India is oftenbregarded as a removed civ, so thiats why I mentioned them, since its somewhat similar to moving the We, Wu or Shu to Chronicles

So just 300 people bought the dlc with your logic?

Of course, I see absolutely no error

I don’t want to infer tooooo much specifically. Just because a civ didn’t get someone’s top vote doesn’t mean they dislike that civ.

But directionally this is really hard to ignore. Even if you throw out all the “not good dlc” votes as haters, the fact the 3k civs collectively have as many votes as the second place khitans really says volumes.

Shouldn’t be surprising that fans of a medieval game would prefer the medieval civs over the antiquity civs.

The steam charts say you might lose several thousand concurrent players if you take the 3k out of ranked. Personally, I think the trend of more players speaks for itself.

You ignore the fact that there is an increase in sale of the base game in East Asia. The original community dislike this DLC while new players buy the base game and this DLC because of 3K.

Damn, so everyone who doesn’t like it is staying anyway because it’s not that bad and we’re additionally adding thousands more? Sounds like a total win to me.

You can associate the success with whatever you want, I see success. Why would I want to do anything that isn’t staying the course when I’m successful?

Just want everyone to know, AOE 2 is currently more popular than it’s been in over four years right after this DLC. So… yeah.

The evidence is so obvious: a new dlc drops - the average player count rises. And given the fact that the average aoe2 playerbase has been steadily increasing (apart from a few deviations) since 2022 (aka the end of covid days), this “gain” this current DLC has shown, is actually smaller than the gain from the mountain royals (november 2023), victors and vanquished (march 2024) and the chronicles (november 2024)…but, to be fair, a month has not yet passed, so the statistics are not exact in this case - when the gain is lower than any of the previous DLCs so far.

The gain aoe2 got…were single player players. Also, a lot of players actually don’t care about history or the spirit of the game, and will play it regardless. The ones who care though…are quite a few..a lot even, but we still love the game enough to play it - without using 3k civs, and trying our best to get them removed.

If you want better evidence, then here, so far just a preview.

Wu, despite being a “new civ” and new civs are usually tested first, has less than half the picks of Khitans - with only 2.39% pick rate, despite being n3 in winrate and a new civ. And I would bet everything that when the full stats are released, Jurchens, who are at the bottom of winrate, will also have higher pick rate than any of the 3k civs. And why? Because most players care about medieval Chinese civs, not some short lived kingdoms.

Gave you a full short response on the other thread, no need to repost it here or debate you in parallel in two locations.

Remove the 3K civs from ranked multiplayer or re-work them as actual medieval civs and not short-lived pre-medieval city states.

Also - on subject of achievement suggesting people don’t play the new civs, 0.1% of players have killed 50 units with fire lancer charged attack. The fire lancer is not relegated to the new DLC, and it’s similarly unclaimed. Clearly the fact that these are new achievements makes a big different in their acquisition, which makes using it as a valid statistic dubious.

The fire lancer charge attack is kinda trash (not much damage) and is the first thing to trigger for fresh units from two sides going into a fight. Ofc very rarely will people kill 50 units with it.

I also didn’t get the achievement for a skirmish victory (no cheats) so they seem to be bugged.

It’s also to early to judge other stats. There are always people trying out new civs and of course people playing random while having the DLC purchased.

There was a larger increase of players when V&V and Battle for Greece were released. Both single-player only content.

You can see this in the stats you posted.

It’s far more likely people are just playing the single-player content. Which means if you take the 3K out of ranked and leave them in their own mode with the campaigns, then the newer players will be happy.

In campaigns they always unlock properly. It’s most likely due to the fact that after a scenario ends, the game plays a cutscene, allowing the achievement to unlock…somehow…
