The BIG problem of the proportions (and the solution)

Its the same thing for Aoe4 , and literally no people had an issue with this in a long time.

HECK! In the closed beta FORUMS NO BODY complained about scale!

Anyway , good screenshot and good reply.

Ehnmm i not postes the worst screenshot. Only searched a screenshot where has barracks or similar.

Edit: this is the real fortified wall, see their correcto proportions. The other is a simple Stone wall.

*compared with units , you clearly know that military buildings vs units are the worst and even aoe1 had better scale for military buildings , the thing is that not even on the IGN review scale was a problem , AND HECK , that review was bad as ā– ā– ā– ā–  , they did even compare aoe vs total war

Not as big as Aoe4 or even aoe3 but well , itā€™s a wall. So I think itā€™s right.

One thing about AoE1 is that all buildings has the same escale. That was so because that Game was designed to have these proportions at diferente to AoE4.

So as every buildings had the same proportions the Game didnt see bad. The problem of AoE4 is that some buildings are good, others are so so, and finally others are horrible. When you see all buildings together, the game looks bad

Itā€™s a 2D GAME!! All buildings have the same -Y scale! Because they are not even real , they are just a paper in front of an isometric camera that made them look real.

And if you are talking that barracks have the same scale as a house , think again pls. I have the game and it donā€™t look like that.

A house is the size of a villager and a barrack is the size of two villager

Ok, all image buildings are paintint at the same escale.

no , all buildings are placed in the terrain but laying horizontally, they are merged with the terrain , itā€™s a 2d game so it can render 3D objects , so the ground it self with units and buildings are the same thing .

Well , I think Iā€™m out of here , I said what I wanted to say.

I dont understand why say me that. I dont see correlaciĆ³n with the topic.
The thing is that in AoE 1 buildings seens more little that units, but between them all seens at the same size. If they are 2D or 3D is irrelevant.

You clearly donā€™t understand. I wonā€™t explain more. I let this discussion to another guy .

I would keep in mind that making changes to the models requires a lot of work and time, both of which they donā€™t have atm since the game releases in 11 days. Could they maybe work on it after, perhaps. But to make those changes to models, also includes textures. Some models may need animations, and the rigging process for that also takes alot of time, and then to make the animations takes longer.

Again, the proportions look better when your actually playing the game. Its the same for any other 3D RTS game.

This is accurate, and I think thats because Age 1 was designed and drawn as a 2d game through and through.

Age 2, while still being a 2D game, had their buildings and units created and animated in a 3d engine, and were then rendered into 2D images for the game. So the buildings were likely designed a certain size, and then later the images were scaled to fit the gameplay, and so introduced the inconsistencies.

I think Age 4 is in that same boat, where they were designed one way, scaled to fit gameplay, and now they look off.

I would make my conclusion:
Proportions were never great, but now are worse, and have never bothered me before in aoe2, now they do.
what should be done do: devs should decide to model smaller buildings from the getgo.
what to do: model smaller buildings or cut ones u have somehow. use these giant buildings u have for the campaign and special stuff. and landmarks and keep em huge.

When it comes to building scales, AoE1 is the worst for it because of how small buildings are in AoE1 compared within other games.

In aoe1 all buildings had the same escale. The problem with aoe4 is that many buildings have benn modified in the last moment of develeopment and are not proportionate to each other (thing that should be fixed with a dlc graphic)

example (two buildings, different escale)

*Some buildings in aoe4 have worse proportions than aoe1.

Yep, AOE4ā€™s building and unit scale is annoying me.
It just looks like a total mess and disproportionate.
Due to this, AOE4 looks more like a budget game, compare to AOE2 xD

yup and no wonder some ppl in other forums said that this game is a cash grab or a ā€œgamepass b8ā€. Such messy release.

Buildings were made with the same proportions and then some were shrinked or enlarged with different scales. Now they look like they were made for different realms.
If there is time, the adjusted models should be re-done, instead of treat them as ppt images.
