The branding of AOE3DE

What’s the difference in practical terms?

What do you mean by this?

This means that there is no simulation of the laws of physics as such. There is no situation where water acts like a fluid pouring down a cliff as a result of the force of gravity.

I assume you mean things like this:

It is basically a fusion of lakes that are at different heights, but it is not a waterfall as such.

Or this:

It appears a few times in the campaign to represent waterfalls. Basically a montage.

Yep
But the good thing is that is more of a traditional RTS experience
It has a good scale, and the battles feel more natural and trustworthy than Colony Wars in AOE 3 DE
Very Large armies, Unit/Building Proportions. And historical feel

Of course, that’s the point in favor of Cossacks 3, that it has historical and various campaigns, although AoE 3 has Asia and Africa…

This is what I was referring to, made by @BaltazarGreat for an upcoming Age of Pirates map:

It’s a scenario map, or it’s an RMS. If this can be created randomly, that’s what I’m talking about.

It’s a random map script

Then they should make official maps with this feature. I assumed it was not possible because there are none.

it can be done with groupings, I was very sad to see the new maps for DE use few groupings. The vanilla maps (not tad, vanilla & twc) have many groupings, sonora is a particularly good example

Which ones?? Vanilla or not vanila???

well, i dont remember if any of TWC maps were because I couldn’t tell you which maps were added on that pack. The american continent maps use the groupings

Exactly like that. But grouping is just the animated part. Groupings don’t store the water, so the water is scripted manually. Making two lakes touching exactly at the right point to create a waterfall is quite challenging, because the map changes size based on amount of players, so I got to use special parameters for every possible amount of players. That’ why I kind of understand why the devs are not hurry about addng a waterfall map.

Do ships travel through the waterfall? How the game interpret it?

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. Probably depends on the terrain beneeth it. Therefore I placed there the path blocks. I’m using a custom made pathblock unit which can be placed anywhere - even on water or over the cliffs.
