The decline of AOE 2 DE

Yes, ultimately, if they wanted to make a DLC like this, they should have included it in Chronicles (as it seems it was going to be according to the game files) and saved the Jurchens and Khitans for later (something similar to the Yue Fei DLC for Age of Empires 4, but for Age of Empires 2)…

Jurchens: Wanyan Aguda establishing the Jin dynasty (1109-1123)

Chinese: Yue Fei defending China from the Jin (1127-1140)

Khitans: Kushluk fleeing from Genghis Khan and serving for and then usurping power in the Liao Empire (1204-1218)

You could not get it in the first place
Age of Empires II is becoming all RTS for all game modes, variants and so

A thing doing more harm than benefits for th game

I’m only really pointing out your own hypocrisy.

A person such as yourself cannot decide what the community itself wants or what benefits this version of AoE2

How telling the truth is Hypocresy?
You simply cannot see the hole picture

is it too much to ask to have the game I bought available to play, instead of this current version where 4-5 civs have been replaced and the entire naval gameplay has been taken away from me?

I just want to play the game I bought.

different people want different things. That’s why it’s the norm to keep old versions of games available on steam, instead of forcing updates on people. Even aoe2 did this in HD where you could revert to previous game versions AND previous datasets.

Yes, the developers didn’t want to complicate things too much with different datasets and force everyone to stay on the current dataset…

Having access to past patches or data sets isn’t complicated. This type of access control is one of the more malicious forms of DRM, but unfortunately it’s exactly what I’d expect from Microslop.

Yes, let’s be thankful they haven’t asked us for kernel-level access yet (cough cough CoD, BF, Valorant, LoL, etc. etc…)

I agree with Hera as an average ranked (TG 1400) player with all his comments except with docks defending with arrows. Saga continues…

it’s not complicated. it’s a simple drop down on steam. not adding that is either incompetence or malice

As a player of Nomad TG 1600/1700, the arrows in Dark Age made it far too easy to play FC Water and laugh in the face of anyone who tried to play Feudal Water

I am 1400 TG elo and I think its good to have somekind of defense. Before it was 100% necessary to play water almost all in and who won water also won game usually. Now since the fishing ship nerf and with options to defend its mostly fast castle. we could tone defenses down but not remove. I still place 1 hulk next to their dock to prevent fishing or some galleys just force them to idle ships… still worth it, you just don’t push docks just hunt around. You might not get that many kills, but idle if he booms without fighting ships.

True, but I’ve seen people place two docks next to each other so that one overlaps the other, and then take the short fish or deep fish they’ve left untouched near the dock. That doesn’t sound like a very fun meta to me

I ve seen this sometimes, but its a waste of resources in my book, as your fishing boats are not closer to any new fish squares. you just patrol galleys around and let him only take shallow fish which is slow and bumpy. And your galleys can punish even those couse of range on stand ground.

Nowdays its just harder to push someone off water early which was a real problem on all water maps. Civs with discounts would win liek this everytime. So water changes are still good imho.
