How would the chineese community feel if the chineese civi was named to yuan?
This is exactly the way one should see it imho
They arent called indians, they are Delhi sultanate, which is an indian state cause is in indian subcontinent. Chinese gameplay is around chose different dynasties, they have to be called chinese instead Yuan.
I wouldnt be upset if they add a Cordoba sultanate and they call it in that way. Thats the right way because they arent spanish but they are iberians because they were in the iberian peninsula. Also they were stronger than christian kingdoms.
Hopefully the second Indian civ will not be an excuse to split the remaining 7 civs from AoE 4. For example, splitting the Mongols into Tatars, Khazars etc would mean that the Mongol nomadic civ mechanics would cease to be unique. I hope that the second Indian civ will be significantly different from the Delhi Sultanate - maybe it will be based on Hinduism?
I think they added HRE because it’s the quintessence of the Middle Ages. Rus civ can be a really interesting civ, we just have to wait for it to show - besides, she fits perfectly as a rival of the Mongolian civ for the campaign.
Vikings (or another name) civ will be something that everyone would like to buy - probably without exception;) - I can already see their Longships and Berserkers coming out of them in order to loot and raze the rival’s city. It would definitely be a very aggressive, fast civ.
The Byzantines are, like the Vikings, another civ that everyone would like to have. She would be a defensive civ with Greek Fire
The other European civs that we can expect are certainly Spain - that is 100% certain. The Portuguese are also almost a certain civ for AoE 4.
It would be nice to see other civs as well, e.g. Hungarians and Poles - very important civs that would fill the gap between HRE and Rus civs.
The problem would be with the Italian civ. Maybe it would just be based on Italian city states - somewhat similar but altered mechanics to the Chinese dynasties.
I think 11 European civs will be enough in AoE 4. I would count on the Byzantine Empire to cover the Bulgarians and Serbs, the Holy Crown of Hungary would cover the Croats and Romanians and the Kingdom of Poland would cover the Lithuanians.
i think 11 civs is over the top when we are starting with 4. i dont think portugal will be added, tho i definitely can see spain.
I think 10-11 civs is the absolute minimum and soon enough civs. A Portuguese civ might be able to be mated somehow with Spain - maybe Kingdom of León?
i personally dont think one needs to represent every smaller country in the game, there are certain factions that are more important to represent than others.
also were still missing quiet large nations in Asia like Japan or the Chola. not to mention Africa and the americas are completely left out atm, this isn’t age of empires 2, 1 could imagine that the development of new factions in this game is going to be close to as time consuming as they are in AOE 3.
i would expect a Japanese faction to be 100% unique, i wouldn’t expect that from portugal which is probably fairly standard compared to other europeans.
You guys always forget the Turks. I believe Turks will be in dlc with Byztaines.
Let’s make age of indian empires too
I made a proposal for new civs that were the most powerful empires in their region. Covering smaller nations is to prevent people from nagging at the lack of one or other civ.
In AoE 2, with 1-2 Unique Units and with 2 technologies, it is impossible to present civ well. Since each civ is to be asymmetric and have more UU, you can give 1-2 from another smaller empire, e.g. Poles, civ would have a Lithuanian unit.
Loool i thought dehli was in middle east o something like that.
Listening to some of peoples on this forum, I have the impression that without hesitating they would abandon AoE forever for this.
I hope so.
Both the Seljuk/ottoman Turks and the Byzantines (aka Romans) have been important players during that era.
In the case of the Byzantines I wonder if they would make them speak Latin or medieval Greek
I would like to hear different languages in each civ - after all, great empires were inhabited by multilingual nations.
Such Byzantines could mostly speak medieval Greek, Latin but also Bulgarian and Serbian - more languages + more nations = the essence of a true empire.
Portugal became the first colonial Empire and one of the most important countries in the beginning of the XVI century. We’re not talking about countries like Switzerland, Tuscany or Wallachia, which were more local powers than anything else.
Turks were not mercenaries. After they converted to Islam, they fought at the north-west borders (byzantines) willingly.
Chola civ bonus:
Infinite gold
Probably not historically accurate but they could start with Latin in dark age and than morph to Greek.
Would be cool.
i’ve mostly played Mongols, and they don’t feel That different from the others concerning the unit roster. Because of the basic units that are reused everywhere. It’s just add a new unit here and there and go.
