Def not needing a buff
Well besides ranged UU’s you don’t really see other mounted UU’s cause they are not practical, the meta is so polished now, that going for knight line is better to make damage early, map control, push, etc.
If you want to see leitis, just remove paladins from lith tec tree and you will see them 100% of the time, otherwise is more effective to go for knight line given the faster production during castle age.
Leitis becomes problematic in the imperial age, cheap upgrade, low gold cost, high DPS, high mobility, food is not an issue on imperial age with larger economies compared to castle age, they have just superior stats when it matters, even in late castle age the leitis melts knight line and everything else.
Fixing the unit is a most for the other UU’s all of them deserve to have a fair ground, with relics it makes more damage then elite war ele, runs faster and its cheaper, boyar, catas, konniks, keshik, tarkan and the magyar huszar well even paladin line loses to them, for only 50 gold, keshik and mag hus are cheaper yeah but they aren’t even close to do the same damage.
And leitis is only the top of the iceberg, lithuanians have just too many things, with all those paths available they don’t really need to have several economic bonuses, they can go for trash or the gold option, even monks, water, siege with bbc, their army composition is insanely strong, paladin, leitis, bbc,HC, monks and fast halbs and skirms with 10 PA.
yeah because trash is totally going to win you games
which fall off in the long term.
on hybrid maps maybe, but outside of that they will fall off vs pretty much anyone that is labeled a naval civ or has some naval bonus.
even with bbc they have the worst siege in the game.
seriously their offense options is leitis and knights - and leitis falls flat against archers
I totally agree. Actually I am really surprised to see that Litits have the same speed for CA! Especially this unit is a heavy cav/knight, so it is weird how did they give it +5% speed.
yeah lets nerf an already practically unseen unique unit. makes perfect sense.
I mean I do not mind nerfing Leitis’ movement speed if it had any sort of logical explanation in terms of game balance. But nerfing their movement based on vague linguistic term of “Heavy Cavalry” doesn’t sound convincing to me. And what exactly is “Heavy Cavalry” in AOE2 by the way? Does any melee-mounted unit with clearly better stats than Scout line counts as “Heavy Cavalry”? If that is the case, than Boyars should become faster and Keshiks should become slower as well regardless of their current position in the game.
In the case of the Lithuanians the civ is really more than the sum of its parts. Sure monks fall of but the relic bonus makes the investment always worth it. Trash alone doesn’t win you game, but faster spears can save you in feudal and then makes you better defended all game long, while 10 pa skirms are hella convenient to neuter archer threats and it makes Lith not die to mass mangudai. And yes they won’t dethrone Italians&co on water but they are as good as Mongols which is pretty great. In the end you end up with a civ that has no clear weakness.
Regarding the OP, “leitis are too similar to knights” is a complaint that pops quite often, so if anything the better speed (or really anything that helps set both lines apart) shouldn’t be changed, instead what makes them similar should be changed.
oh i agree that lithuanians are better then the sum of their parts, but to deny that siege is a huge and glaring weakness would be foolhardy. i’m to the point where i even support a lithuanians nerf - if only minor.
