The literal “tiger” cavalry

And I speculate that the reason why Wei, Shu and Wu didn’t really make something like Chronicles, but Ranked Civilization, is because the former requires almost a whole new set of buildings and units, but they don’t want to do that. Maybe it was because of lack of time, or maybe it was some other reason, so they completed five “civilizations” with the least cost.

Gentleman, hate to be that guy to point it out,
but we should realise that site of Tang Elite Tiger Crown Cavalry 虎冠騎 was basically just some random Gaming mod and Toy site made up by modern artist, and was not for anything of historiacal record purpose. (Actually we can easily tell that the site isnt very concern over historical accuracy as it suggesting that Tang Elits Tiger Crown Cavalry was from 500 to 980s, while the First Tang Emperor only established Tang in the year of 618)

There is no any historical records of Tiger Crown Cavalry 虎冠騎 in chinese history, ironically that name probably was inspired by Tiger Cavalry 虎豹騎 from Wei, or another Cavalry troop from the Shang dynasty named Charging Tiger Cavalry 虎賁騎

As said in the above post, the aniceint chinse soldier wouldnt really put a tiger skin head as helmet, it would be Beast Helmet that made either in Bronze or tanned Leather which resemble more like the Chinese Gurdian Lion.

For the Tiger Crown Cavalry from that website, i am guessing as the artist mentioned its from Tang Dynasty,
Itss very probably was inspired by a popular children hood of the Tang Dynasty that called Tiger Hood, 虎頭帽 which was for warmth and the wish that the child wearing it could grow up strong and heathly.

I guess that might be the inspiration of the artist, but in real life, no grown man in the Tang Dynasty would wear anything resemble to hood that meant for kid, especially for those men work in the military.

I think what you said makes sense. My original intention was just to respond to someone asking about the source of this image that was posted earlier.
The few pictures given on the website do not really explain anything, and they cannot even prove that this kind of military attire existed in ancient China.
