I get the error message : The lobby encountered an unexpected error and has been closed
just after launch multiplayer lobby to start the game. This is a very new bug.

Latest game version , steam version , all DLC.

not from LAN, this is likely from the bug we’ve reported back 6 months ago

After recent update and server maintenance, hosting custom game drops half the time on start

yea still there i think im starting to see some correlation with how long the game has bbeen on, and if theres just 1 player that causes this issue the entire lobby is screwed so after every like 3-4 games I ask players to restart the game, but of course those are only ones from the same group, random players we have no way to know if they been online for awhile without restarting.

Same issue here, been happening for 6 months now. Half of my unranked custom games won’t start. This is still an issue as of June 1st 2024.

I belive this occurs when the host of the lobby is tabbed out of the game when the game counts down to 0 when starting.

Doesn’t happen 100% of the time, but it can cause it I belive, it may have something to do with anti cheat while transitioning into the game

This error occurs consistently for myself and the group I play with each week (just happened again Monday).

@Felizon89 I believe that I have narrowed down the cause:
When I host a lobby and a group of people join, if everyone sits in the lobby for an extended period of time (i.e. 10-20 minutes); then when everyone readies up and the game starts, the game will crash to the main screen with the exact error pictured in the screenshot above.

I believe it is more related to people leaving or being kicked and when a new person joins the same spot some status get wrongly updated. And that will happen more on lobbies that take longer to complete and start. It’s a guess based on the lobbies I saw crashing so many times.

A terrible error. The lobby freezes, crashes.
The error numbers are different, but the essence is the same in the end, so either you have to restart the game or they block you for several hours and you can’t play.

The most common error codes are:
Automatch2PollingEvent (0xfffffffa)
AdvertisementJoinEvent (error code 4)

Please suggest a solution to this problem. I can’t play the game at all.
