The new patch regarding Demeter is nice and all but

Whilst the patch was nice and all and fixed some major issues, theres still some thing that were looked over. For one Hamadryads and Sirens need a major buff. Hamas are pathetically weak in terms of their damage output and you need to upgrade them for their special ability instead of having it from the get go. This is like the equivilant of upgrading Sphinxes to have acces to their “sand vortex” ability. Sirens on the other hand can’t attack buildings at all nor enemy units without “charming” them. This in particular makes sirens sitting ducks as they can easily be swarmed and while attacked whilst charming an enemy unit they ran away. Harpies are their own can of worms as they’re Demter’s special unit that can be spawned from a fortress for some reason. This makes zero sense as all myth units from each patheon (aside from Kuafu) are spawned from either temples or docks. Not to mention they’re also pathetically weak as well and can easily be killed. I doubt they’d do this but I suggest Harpies replace the Pegasi as Demetar’s special scout unit (akin to her brother Poseidon’s Hippocampus) and can only be spawned at the temple. As the ages go by, you can unlock the Harpy’s “Iron grip” upgrade that allows them to attack and grap enemy units. Not to mention give the Harpy a wieght limit as picking up large units like War Elephants and Colossi makes no logical sense, as well as a proper swooping animation while picking up enemy units. If this does ever happen, they should also replace Demetar’s special fortress unit with an actual infantry unit compared to her brothers that not only benefits from the upgrades of her respective gods, but fits thematically as well. Lasty, just a random suggestion, they should rework the Scenario “Shattered Underworlds” Where in the Greek underworld section they should replace the harpies with Demetar’s harpeis where they pick up units and drag them over to Cerberus to be killed unless you shoot them down.

I don’t get this choice either…

Additionally, the Harpy being classified as myth unit means she can’t even benefits from armory and military line upgrades in contrast to myrmidon etc.

The excuse that the new unit has to be a myth unit because the other unique units are all human doesn’t make sense from any point of view.

I agree with a lot of this, and I think it ties back to the bigger issue with Demeter as a whole.

Even with the recent patch changes (Alpha Lykaon speed adjustments, Lykaon Villagers no longer tagged as Myth Units, Communal Hearth buffs, hero relic fix, etc.), the core problem still feels untouched: her myth lineup doesn’t give her a reliable mid–late game identity.

Hamadryads being heavily upgrade-dependent before they feel worth the cost is part of that. If a myth unit needs research before it even feels functional, it’s already behind compared to most other myth units that are usable the moment they’re trained.

Sirens are another example. Since they can’t directly attack buildings and rely on Charm for impact, they become very situational. If the opponent has solid hero presence or just overwhelms them, they don’t contribute much. That makes them harder to justify compared to more straightforward myth units from other gods.

Harpies being tied to the Fortress instead of the Temple also makes Demeter feel inconsistent compared to how most myth units are produced across the pantheons. It adds to that feeling that her kit doesn’t fully line up with standard design logic. I’m not even saying every myth unit needs a redesign, but they need clearer purpose and better synergy with her overall game plan.

And that’s really the main issue: Demeter’s myth units, god powers, and bonuses don’t point toward a clear strategy. Even after this patch, she still lacks a defined win condition in Heroic/Mythic. Buffing numbers here and there doesn’t solve that if the overall direction is unclear.

Until her myth roster and powers actually reinforce a consistent playstyle, whether that’s scaling, sustain, or something unique, she’s going to keep feeling unfocused compared to Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.

I have another idea that instead of Harpies being a unique scout unit that replaces Pegusi, it should instead be a myth unit exclusive to Persphone. Mechanically that makes better sense and its simluar to Oceanus in the Atlantean Pantheon as he spawns 2 exclusive myth units from the temple and the docks being the Servent and Caldrea. The Siren can be reworked to spawn at the docks and the Harpy can be reworked to spawn at the temple allowing Demeter to have an actual exclusive infantry unit that can be spawned at the fortress.

From this list of infantry units from Ancient Greece that aren’t in the game already, which ones would fit Demeter best? Category:Ancient Greek infantry types - Wikipedia

From that list: Psiloi sound pretty good and makes more sense with “Fated Arrows“ tech than archer
I found a video about them:

Give the devs time - they’ve introduced a quick hotfix patch, and already addressed issues the community have brought up. Certainly not everything, but clearly they’re listening, reading and considering. I have faith in them. Give them the benefit of the doubt and in the next major patch I’m sure we’ll see some large changes to things like the new MU’s, Demeter’s theme etc.

Essentailly Greek Slingers I like it

Bro we had bugs in the game since the closed beta that haven’t been fixed

You can say that about any game tbh. There will always be bugs thats just a fact of life. But at the least the devs listen and actually try and patch as many bugs as they can.

Demeter with how she is seems to be a much better choice for team games then in 1v1.

That’s still pretty bad that she can’t hold on her own.

objectively i totally agree with you! i personally was more salty the past days cause i really had higher and different hopes for Demeter which is a subjective issue of me of course.
but i even i agree to give the devs time and have faith in them that they are bold enough again to change/overhaul/add/remove things and listen to the community as they already showed that they did in the past several times, i still am partly concerned that they won’t change much and most changes will happen very slowly over the whole year and some of them (especially the leading parts) hope we all calm down, accept and maybe even get affected by those who are really positive towards new additions without concerns. maybe. of course i don’t know and thats only the more “negative” and rightfully concerned part of me. the other part is hopefull/faithfull and has trust in the talented and dedicated dev team(s).
but if it will just be slight number changes my very subjective part will be forever a bit salty seeing or taling about Demeter DLC i assume. x)
