The newest AoE4 dlcs are slop and not worth the price

No campaigns. lazy civ variants. ATP they’re just blatantly milking every dollar out of us and seeing if they can get away with this.

Just add the BAREST OF MINIMUMS in content to cator to the MPs and just completely disregard the single players. It’s clear what direction this game is headed into. I’ll not buy any dlc until I see new civs and campaigns added.

It’s beyond me how people are satisfied with this overpriced, bare minimum bottom of the barrel dlc. It’s a blatant ripoff

Yes, ultimately you can wait for the price to drop or wait for a better DLC to come out and buy it along with this one…

The Crucible is SP content that doesn’t cater to MP players.

If you don’t like it? Fine. If you want more campaigns? More than fine.

But let’s not create some kind of fake narrative where the Crucible doesn’t exist / apparently took zero resources to create.

Played Crucible for >20 hours (could easily play it for 100s more), normally beat a full campaign module on hardest in ~4 hrs max… so, for me, this has been the greatest singleplayer addition to the game… ever?

I couldn’t agree more. I think AOE needs to explain why they refuse to make more campaigns for AOE 4. I loved the chronicles of Greece Alexander the great and the one before that. Why can’t they do the same for this game? I only bought this new dlc because I thought they mentioned new single player content. They weren’t specific about that and I thought the dynasties of the east was going to have some campaigns. Very disappointing

You can literally look at the Steam page and it tells you what you’re getting.

By all means want more campaigns, but you were in no way misled.

They did. They very specifically said what kind of single-player content it was and then that’s what we got.

No I disagree with this post. I think Knights Templar are the most unique civ there is and would love to see more civs like that in the future. On the other hand Macedonian dynasty was rushed a bit but they are still enjoyable to play. The crucible alone is worth all the money for the second DLC which is one large peperoni pizza by the way without tip. Could it be better sure. However to say it is not worth more than one large pizza is not true. I would rather be hungry for one night and have both DLC’s for life.

The Crucible is a repeatable experience and remember SINGLE PLAYER ONLY Experience. No Co Op or more human players are allowed to experience it at the same time

The current campaign experience is not. The campaigns are designed to be a Single Player plus onboarding experience to players . They have a unique narrative, gameplay features, and structure. That’s why SP players request for more of these game experiences

The current ones on the base game are pretty boring, repetitive, not engaging missions plus lack of foundations for actually MP gameplay. The Sultans Ascend ones are so much better, but more of them are needed.

Not every Single / Casual Player wants to play a Defend the Wonder against Ai with Bonuses game mode.

Agreed, that’s why I’m hoping they add to historical battles in the future as well.

Campaigns are great for story telling but lack a challenge. The Historical battles offer both!

There is one campagin that I would love to see. Order of the dragon against the Otomans. Commanded by the infamous Vlad the impaler. It is the most interesting time in historical battles. I dont know why devs are sitting on this for so long. We already got the civs now make the story right???

They really need to make new Asian campaigns.

I don’t think it’s expensive.
Whenever I’m enjoying a game, I always support the developers. And in general, the DLCs are good. So I always buy them when they’re released; it’s a way to show interest and support… however, I understand the frustration… we expect something more impactful, like unique civilizations and a good campaign.

But that’s not the problem… but rather what they’re working on right now :

  • What I believe… is that the developers are buying time.
  • They probably have split teams, working on separate projects.
  • So they can work on the unique civilizations and campaigns, while another part works on the variants.
  • In the last two years, we haven’t gotten any unique civilizations or campaigns.
  • I believe that in 2026, the last DLC focused on variants will be released, for the remaining ancient civilizations.
  • However, I would like to believe that a second DLC with unique civilizations + campaign will come out later in 2026.

The problem comes later… the years 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030… I hope they have prepared for a continuous release schedule of unique civilizations. I believe the campaigns should vary according to the DLC.

But we’ll see… we’re hoping for a pleasant surprise in 2026… which would be 2 DLCs… because one DLC will surely still include the last missing variants.

The DLC is the best yet in my opinion though all of the DLC’s have been excellent. The new civs are all really cool to play and very interesting and the crucible is awesome and very addictive for when you want a break from multiplayer.

I really enjoy this new dlc.

  1. All the new variant civs feel very unique compared to their original version which adds some much needed flavor.
  2. The crucible has been a joy to play and try out when I didn’t particularly enjoy the main campaign.
  3. Yes it’s more cost effective to do variants and this dlc paves the way for the future. People obviously vote with their dollar(money) and so if people are voting for more dlc, more unique civs/mechanics, more joy then they will hear and see that and provide more of that in the future.

Yes, they should include more campaigns covering more events from Asia, at least those related to the disintegration of the Mongol Empire (1368-1502) aka the Golden Horde (Toqtamish, Tamerlane, Ulug Beg and maybe Babur too) and obviously the Sengoku period (1467-1615)…

Yes, at least the new variants are quite complete, and it’s good that they’re diversifying them across the DLCs; it’s better to have two variants and then four variants than to have only six variants in a single DLC per year…

Yes, historical battles have already been added to KoCaR… now we need historical battles with the new variants (that’s 4 or 8 more HB)…

Yes, I agree… let’s remember that they’re also developing DLCs for Retold… that’s why the next DLC will finish with the remaining variants (Novgorod for Rus, Seljuks for Ottomans, and Songhai for Malians) (we’ll see what they call it later)…

Novgorod Republic (1136-1478): Rus’ units and buildings, plus Boyards and Byzantine and HRE mercenaries…

Seljuks (1037-1194): Ottomans without gunpowder (i.e., no Janissaries and Great Bombards) and landmarks, plus Abbasid units and House of Wisdom…

Songhai (1464-1591): Malian units and buildings with more gunpowder…

And then, the Ibero-American DLC/The Conquerors 2.0 (Spanish, Aztecs, and Incas like those in AoE 3) with a Reconquista campaign (1072-1492) (El Cid, Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, and the Conquest of Granada)…

Spanish (711-1492): The same as AoE 3 but with Adelantado instead of Explorer, Conquistador instead of Lancer and Almogavar units…

Aztecs (1325-1521): The same as AoE 3

Inca (1200-1572): The same as AoE 3…

more power to you for enjoying it. This dlc is still a ripoff for me. Asking the same price and giving me less is basically shrinkflation.

There’s still a bottomline that shouldn’t be crossed and they’ll give less and less just to see how much they can get away with.

Paying for just for the sake of supporting the devs also is a stupid thing to do. I am a paying customer, not their parent.

I guess it can be difficult to not get what you want or expect out of something.

it is what it is as they say. I just came out here to air my opinions on the direction the game’s being taken into. The entire franchise as matter of fact. AoE3 was cancelled and the AoE2 China dlc literally devided the playerbase, and the devs knew what they were doing. I heard the newest Chronicles dlc is decent, but sadly the main game’s not getting the same treatment.

Luckily there are more than enough games out there to spend my money on and keep me entertained.

I suppose it’s a good thing that nobody’s telling you to do this, then. Your money is your own.
