And you know something crazy? They already tweaked musketeer stats between factions in the vanilla game. The russian musketeers (ruskets) had unique stats but still were the same unit as every other european civ
Yes for one civ out of 8, and it’s the same unit with the exact same appearance. That’s truly crazily diverse and unique especially compared to the later additions.
By the Mexican or US standard, it is going to be a new unit called “ryadovoy”.
BTW, to be serious, Russian infantry getting a general reduction in both price and stars is a shadow tech at the start of the game. They still have the same base stats.
I believe the very first sentence in this thread said I’m not going to talk about balancing, just contents.
Edit: Even if new civs get balanced by pushing their power peak as late as possible (as is the common practice for most DE civs), this huge imbalance of contents still exists.
And? I am free to talk about what I want to, so what you choose to talk about and what I do are two very different things and I was replying to someone else not your original post
And I’ll do whatever I want to thanks. Content police are you? Get a grip man.
OriginalKnot717 ArrivedLeader22 Relax and don’t argue.
Lol you’re being ridiculous so this will be my last reply but just know you’ve derailed your original post way more by being pedantic with me than I did by replying once to someone else.
I think devs should allow people who preordered the new civs to play them in PUP. This will allow pros and other players like me who like to explore to give feedback so the first balance patch can come sooner.
If the current trend continues, we will get those new cards.
Personally I’d like them to combine a few of the existing cards so they are more valuable instead of adding new stuff. E.G. surgeon cards combined with church card, or moving explorer upgrades to TC or church.
Even with the bundled effects, some of them are still useless in supremacy.
This is very difficult. People can still hide behind walls with some civs in some matchups, so any late game upgrade has the potential to affect standard 1v1.
Make sense. I’m just listing out what I can think of. The devs know how to keep the game balanced more than I do.
Some effects can be moved to techs as you suggested.
Some can be “bundled” into maybe a unit shipment (with cost, like some African merc cards) or regular improvement cards (like the reworked early gather rate cards which also make resources last longer)
Another simple possibility is to increase the deck size for vanila civs, since the others get a lot of card equivalent techs above the usual 25 deck size. This will naturally allow some second tier cards into some build orders.
I think donut man likes to be against the current. He is frequently dunked.
I think the fear is due to the fact that there are two types of players:
The daring like and who think more about innovation than balance. Think more about prioritizing reinvigorating the game and the other aspects are secondary.
The others are a group that only think of a stable ‘build order’ that should not be altered and prioritize balance before anything else. They use the word ‘competitive’ so much that they have to seem that creativity and balance cannot harmonize with each other.
For me the fear is due to the fact that they are stuffing more and more into new civs which makes every DLC look like the last one.
I would say that there is no reason for the game to stop receiving content. Although they don’t sell as well as AOE-2, they do have a community that many other games would envy.
Also I think it is a very sold game. I even think it outperforms the legacy game on steam.
If you look at the reviews of AOE-3 DE and AOE-3 classic, you will see that AOE-3 DE is just short of reaching the number of reviews of AOE-3 classic. I don’t know if this is a sales indicator, but AOE-3 DE is only a few months old, while AOE-3 is there since 2009. Which means the rate of comments and reviews is much higher for DE. That’s not counting the gamepass ones.
I find it curious AoEIII is promoted on the steam store frontpage quite frequently but I don’t recall ever seeing AoEIIIDE.
I hope this is the year (at least late or early next year) where there’s a real update.
We already have crewed fishing boats, updated card images and icons, and some civilizations have been reworked and polished, but there are general mechanics that I hope will be considered for updating in the future.
