I believe that removing game sharing from Steam’s family mode will drastically reduce the number of smurf accounts. It’s really not fun for Gold and Platinum players to play against Conquerors (with new accounts and low rank).

What I should do in the future is convert a friend to AoE and then play only against people I know personally. I don’t even bother with multiplayer but I’m interested in the possibility.
