Casual Content is what the game needs a lot
Is enough to please Esports, Pro Scene and Multiplayer. That was their biggest mistake since its planning
Single and Casual Players should have something too
Why is this type of content so important you might wonder?
Just look how much people buy AoE II DE DLCs just to play its campaigns. how much people keep playing Co-Op Commanders mode in StarCraft II and then you will have an answer
Microsoft has a reputation lately of reducing games that doesn’t derive in sales or great sales, they’re reducing budget to a lot of games including the AOE franchise, I’m worried they will shut down every franchise just keeping servers and keep aoe2 with dlcs (variant ones) . Aoe probably doesn’t give a lot of money in sales or monetization for a company like Microsoft
I prefer to be a little more polite and wouldn’t use the term “fanboys” though I think you are being a little over sensitive and over defensive on this>
I’ll rephrase the point in a manner that would perhaps upset you less and maybe a more constructive dialogue could be have.
The more prominent supportive members of the AOE4 community perhaps drown out the concerns of the less prominent membership such that the latters concerns have not been addressed.
personally I love the game but there are a number of frustrations I have. the AI decision making is one (though it is better than some RTS games) such that harder AI opponents rely simply on more beneficial gather rates, faster unit production and increased damage stats (not 100% sure the latter of these is actually the case to be fair).
Also a number of bugs that are widely reported (something the developers welcome) are not addressed for an inordinate length of time. My personal example is the broken Malian mastery, which took months to fix despite many reports going in..
Also, as stated, the maps are a little formulaic and the different seeds of particular maps seem to vary very little.
I don’t agree with the previous poster though on lack of uniqueness of civs. I think there are some quite significant differences that demand different strategies for each of them.
“this is the first time Paul2 has posted - let’s welcome them to our community!”
What do you need to rephrase?
I had no issue with any of Erica’s posts and I think their perspective has been a welcome breath of fresh air regardless of whether or not I agree with any part of it.
I couldnt disagree more. I think the critical membership have a very vocal voice on these forums. There’s no “drowning out” from any other demographics.
Do folks sometimes struggle to understand each other? Sure. But I haven’t come across a forum where that isn’t the case to date.
Are there frustrations? Sure.
But let’s assume for a second - just a second - that my theorycrafting is correct. That the devolopers are doing the best they can with the resources they have, and in fact it’s the resources that are the problem.
Is that me trying to drown out anyone? Is that not a reasonable theory to hold? Should I not argue for my opinion?
How is that being sensitive? I don’t understand.
Critics will often claim that they’re not allowed to criticise in peace. Maybe they see it that way. But I haven’t seen in my years here (which by now is a few) a single positive thread that hasn’t been left alone by critics, either.
We all want our voices heard. As much as I disagree with some folks, that’s a fundamental truth.
Wild. I guess you are totally new here. Otherwise you’d know there’s been no “drowning out” of criticism whatsoever. Ha even the most bizarre and unconstructive criticism abounds.
