What post are you seeing this in?

Celebrating Age in 2025 and What’s Still to Come This Year! Is To post

Small correction. This would be the Third Chronicles. The second one is the 3 kingdoms.

3 Kingdoms is like 200 years before AoE2 but >500 years after Chronicles.
Also “Chronicles” is chronologically, not jumping from 400 BC to 200 AD and then back to 300 BC.

didnt said by devs but R@W clearly stated the mod was around 500 BC to 500 AD. That is we assume its the official adaptation

Yes but then the Hun and Goth campaigns would have to be Chronicles too.
Also we don’t know where Chronicles is going. Or if will ever be continued past the Alexander DLC.

On first point, technically they should be. I even say hope we simply get skin change. Like Chronicle era units, Hand Cannons being Gastrophetes, etc. Thematically wouldn’t look bad actually. Also a Steppe set for Huns.

On second point, I’m extremely scared of the possibility. Situation after all doesn’t look so good. Man I want to see Carthage, Roman Republic, etc. so bad… Direction is going so well but still…

I still wonder if we will ever have Traction Trebs replacement for bombards and devs actually fixing 3K civs.

People suggested making a new thing separate from Chronicles called “Legends” which focuses on less history campaigns and has heroes and stuff like that for all civilisations in there.
This would probably be the best solution.

You don’t like 3 Kingdoms in the main game but have you thought about if Chronicles fans would want them in their part of the game?
Also Chronicles is made by a different studio while 3 Kingdoms was made by Forgotten Empires. We shouldn’t insert civs into their game without their consent.

Chronicls is history focus when 3K has more legends elements. Chronicles should simply stay where they are at now.
3K even with all its flaws can still be adapted to Chronicle. Atleast matches the timeline. But having it with Medieval civs with riddiculous super power elements in ranked is where entire community draw the line. Sure we had oddities but 3K is just too much.
I mean FE could’ve simply made Middle Age Chinese civs instead. Say it dynasty theme civs like Ming/Tang or other suggestions like Jurchens, Khitans, Tanguts, etc. But they made mistake for the sake of pampering Chinese fans even they didnt like it. Scared to do Tibetans but at the process makes even worse Chinese representation.
Also having it in Chronicles civ brackets would’ve atleast made some sense and still can salvagable instead of throwing it all in the drain. Fits the time period and even exchange some ideas. Like traction trebs being bombard canon replacement. It doesnt have to be pure Chronicles just for ranked play they’ll be its own bracket.

We already had back n forth conversation about this, no?

There were multiple similar discussions on the forum before.

I don’t like Chronicles being treated as containment or even a landfill for civs people don’t like.

Thats not the case. Issue is the TIMELINE. 3K has nothing Middle Age about it and its has more fictional than anything in the game so far. You can stretch timeline like roughly covering fall of rome era but there is a certain limit. Also gunpowder era too. It’s nothing about being a containment zone. I, even want Roman/Goths/Huns to go into Chronicle era because it matches the timeline perfectly. I still love playing Goths/Huns. I wouldn’t want Koreans to go there. Its basic sense.

In the end it’s the developers of both the main game and Chronicles decision what they think belong in what section of the game.
Whatever they do some people won’t be happy about it. Removing the 3 Kingdoms from ranked now would mean taking things away people paid for so that won’t happen anymore.

Not even telling to remove it. Just simply keep it Chronicles civs. Like ranked between current 3 Chronicles civs and 3K civs. With DLC assuming 3 more. Meaning 9 civs.

That’s why people keep suggesting to replace them.

But the 3 Kingdoms civs are designed and balanced like main game civs and not like Chronicles civs.
They would have to be reworked to work in Chronicles. Which again is the game of Capture Age and not Forgotten Empires.
Also people bought the DLC to be able to play those civilisations in ranked matches in the main game and not in a much smaller secondary mode that might never get enough players to ever find a match.

That’s a different topic.
But we all know that it’s likely never going to happen at this point. It’s a mistake that is hard to undo because there are enough people that like the civilisations the way they are and people always hate having something taken away much more then anything else.

Ha! Data shows otherwise. Videos about these civs have thousands fewer views than ones about the Jurchens or Khitans.

Plus if they get moved to another mode, and there are replacements, people still keep them. The only people upset would be the 3 or 4 people that weirdly wanted Three Kingdoms in ranked specifically.
