Cav Combat for Germany already only helps a listed set of cavalry. Same with Uhlan combat in age 4 and cav hp in age 2. Team Cav attack is the only one that would improve Merc cavalry, but that card needs to be broad enough to actually benefit whatever your teammates are doing.

I’m not convinced it is. They are still 2 pop, the only buffs I gave them were for range, and AoE (although relatively low AoE) and being able to build things. Pop wise they shouldn’t be great even after the change, but I could see an argument for caution. Their ability to build things would be nice in treaty if 10-20 pop can be spared.

Probably need to add it to all European civs that currently don’t have it then.

The thing i want from ethiopia is the card that lowers the oulaws pop cost need to lower more.Ethiopian outlaws need to cost 1 pop after this card.Also hausa needs same card too.I sometimes want to play only outlaws.

Hausa and Etiophia needs Petard units :slight_smile:

Yes, basically give the British a unique skirmisher as a base, although that would limit the use of the Church card…

This is not historically accurate, as the Netherlands used many mercenaries as its main army during the Eighty/Thirty Years’ War…

Balance is more important that accuracy. They can have mercenary HC shipments, but not training them at standard building.

And dont get started on the speed bonus for no reason on that card

Well, that’s true…at least they could have several cards of mercenary armies…

I think, as long as it stays in the tavern, it’s okay.

Hi my IGN is goodspeed, I’m one of the founders of ESOC and long time leader of its patching effort.

If there is another patch, it should only have one change: Possible ranked play with a modded game.

This enables the community to take up the balancing effort, which will never be completely finished. Any attempts of a “final” balance patch to balance the game will just patch the issue of the week, and introduce its own issues. In fact the game is so very far from a balanced state that the only hope of it ever getting there is a long-term community effort.

Focusing on balance changes here is entirely the wrong priority. The focus should be on trying to get the devs to understand that their game stays alive on the back of community effort, as it has done before with ESOC and its patch. That effort is dead on arrival if ranked play with mods is not possible.

I saw a lot of the ESOC tournament games from the ESOC patch days on YouTube, so firstly: woah.

I do have to slightly disagree though. I think ranked modded lobbies would be a great idea, and they should do it. But I think they should still make a final attempt to improve balance in the base game. A lot of what I think should be changed is pretty simple overall and just leaving it unchanged with Otto and Baja Mexico being very oppressive on the unmodded ladder seems wrong imo.

This is from another thread, a lot has been happening on Steamdb. No one knows for sure what it means, but maybe a patch is in the works. If so, given the amount of time it’s been in the works it’d probably be pretty big. Knowing this does play into my opinion a bit.

As long as it doesn’t get in the way of the one change we actually need, sure why not. But if it’s one or the other, which it probably is, the choice is easy.

If the patch is already being worked on, and it is indeed the final patch, I guess we’re shit out of luck.
