There needs to be better maps in ranked

There needs to be better maps for suited better for defense. The vast majority of all the current maps aside from Snake Dance (my favorite map), Valley of Kings, Blue Lagoon, Oasis, and Alfiehm don’t allow any defensive options as you’re simply out in the open. Walls are esentially useless as you have to rely on trees (with the expection of Oasis), instead of natural barriers like hills and mountains. Not to mention the majority of the maps are incredibly boring and repeditive and aside from Midgard, Antalia and that other Japonese map that was sadly removed, navel units are obsolete. Unless you’re a Chinese or Japonese player, you can build docks at small lakes scattered across the map and utilize amphibious units, but they’re gimmicky at best. In general there needs to be more intersting and defensive maps with their own gimmicks and dangers that pose chllaenges to any player no mattter their skill. Also I’m just tired of getting steamrolled on maps where I literally can’t defend myself on. It’s probably a skill isue on my behalf, but it’s realy degrading. I seem to peform better on maps that you can actually build proper defenses on compared to maps where you’re simply out in the open.

Maps usually change with big patches, its been some time since that happened thou.

Well thats kind of the point. All defensive maps would be just as bland as all open maps. Some people enjoy aggresive play that favors open maps more and some like more defensive play that favors more closed maps.

Not really, theres a skill to get to closing off your base will walls and buildings. Its easier to harder depending on the map but its always doable and very valuable. If you are picturing needing a long line of walls then you are probably not having a proper base layout.

Umibozu are very strong, def give them more use

Would you like advice on how to base layout better?

I just want to get better in ranked as I keep getting steamrolled in open maps as im a more defensive then I am offensive.

Fair, i get behind wanting to tailor a mode for your preferences, just mentionind why its a split of open and closed maps and not just one or the other. You can also watch defensive players at high elo and see how they make their base layout.
