Don’t get me wrong, the new stuff added in the DLC is awesome! I’m so glad we finally got it! However where are a few things I’d also like to see added:
Maltese church tech called “Teutonic Knights” is either reworked to include Teutonic knight units, or is renamed and gives the Hospitaller plate armour.
Have the new Inuit units (or one at least) included in the “Native American Allies” card for the Canada revolt as they are also an indigenous tribe in Canada.
Have the “Monastic Granges” card from the Livonia revolt be available to Vanilla Malta as it makes sense thematically and would play into the priest and religious order narrative.
Polish Winged Hussars nerfed - they are too strong late game imo.
Have the “Prussian Needle Gunner” only available to the Prussians after revolting as this would make more sense as we now have the official Prussian revolt.
Add a card that allows certain civs to consistently train the Cranequiner as a cav unit as I believe they are one of the only mercs that no civ can train consistently (certain civs would include Malta, Italy, Germany, France, etc)
Add a card similar to other civs cards for the British that allows them to send a royal embassy where they can choose between allying with the house of Hanover and the house of Stuart.
Add the Lenape as an available trade post settlement on appropriate maps as it’s unclear why they are not already there.
• British Rangers - to unlock them we can either ship ‘Rangers’ or ship the British unique Church tech (Glorious Revolution) and then research Queen’s Rangers (after King’s Rangers). I feel that the Rangers card could be retooled to something else as the Church card is a better ‘natural flow’ to unlock them instead of the essentially basic Rangers card (though personally, I’d just like them available in Industrial, with some Church shipment/standard shipment to enable them in Fortress). With a card ‘saved’, we could either have some shipment that does more interesting things - ‘Tudor Tactics’ - unlocks a Halberdier-variant for the Brits - the Billman, or something that bolsters Rangers somehow. (rather than being a redundant extra way of unlocking then…)
Graphical:
• British Manor Houses to receive a Manor House skin/model, bringing it line with other European unique buildings.
Germans have had the Royal Guard upgrade for their skirmishers ever since the original game release in 2005. Removing them would be a straight-up nerf and they don’t have enough upgrade cards for their Skirmishers to compensate the loss.
There is no benefit to making the RG upgrade locked to the Prussian revolt. Revolting to Prussia automatically upgrades Skirmishers to Needle Gunners and also upgrades Uhlans to Prussian Uhlans. That is a fine way to implement those units in the revolt for regular use.
Prussia was still considered German, albeit still politically and culturally distinct enough from, for example the Bavarian region. The majority of the population consisted of ethnic Germans that spoke German. AoE3 German civilization is primarily based on both the Kingdom of Prussia and Holy Roman Empire. This means that Prussian units can be included.
The AoE3 Prussia revolt still feels distinct enough from the regular Age V Germany anyways, with its focus on military and industrialization. It even gets upgraded Musketeers. There is no need to make Needle Gunners exclusive to the revolt.
This is first time I’ve seen anyone want the Polish Winged Hussars nerfed.
They are not good enough in the late game for an expensive 3-pop heavy cavalry unit that requires 5+ HCCs to be at their best. For a being legendary cavalry unit that was heavily featured in the DLC promos, they don’t feel like it in this game.
If anything, they need a buff. Increasing Winged Hussar melee resistance up to 40% and increasing their HP would help out a lot. They would have a niche of being a tanky lancer cavalry unit.
I can see your points except for the one regarding polish winged hussars because if their eco lets late game there’s no infantry that can effectively beat then
